We couldn’t be more pumped to bring you podcast #143 from the master of seamless, rhythmic teasing and co-founder of Amenthia Recordings, Garçon.

Garçon stole our hearts at Paral.lel 2019 with the sublime, down-tempo, slow-build journey he artfully wove together. Experiencing that dance floor (its setting an idyllic spot in the Pre-Pyrenees mountains) come to life as we were elevated into a blissful haze, surrounded by fellow music lovers surrendering to the ride, was a moment we’ll never forget.

For us, the beauty of garçon is his ability to create seamless, continuously evolving journeys, to the point that the kick drums become one with your heart beat, where the synths and soundscapes engulf you until you and the music are no longer separate entities. You are one and the same, locked in a dance, pulsating with the rhythms of the universe, where time itself disappears.

The light and dark, the fast and slow, the loud and quiet - one cannot exist without the other and opposing qualities, in balance, each bring out the best in life - and often also in music. Berlin-based artist Mareena embodies this interplay perfectly. May it be through her well-built Techno DJ Sets in Clubs all over the world or as Podcast host and Label Owner of the always calming and ever-giving UNRUSH series - Mareena understood the integration of this dualism like few other artists nowadays. A catch-up between Delayed and her was long overdue and our discussion expanded from the 90’ies, over timeless music to the challenges of the life of an artist these days.

This is what Mareena said about the mix:
'I had a lot of ideas for a calm mix. I ended up with a dub techno mix. A genre that is sticking with me since my beginnings. I can't get tired of chords and delays. Since your platform is called “Delayed” it seemed just appropriate ;) The mix is recorded between 115 – 120 BPM. I wanted to create something more chill. A mix you listen to while cooking, having friends over or wandering around the streets. My idea was a deeper psychedelic vibe rather than the usual dance floor music.'

Clear as spring water, the memory of Shoal's beautiful live set echoing through the Norwegian mountains, finally sharing the stage together at Monument (@monument-podcast) after meeting in Amsterdam several years ago. Those familiar with our dear friends at Harmony Rec (@harmony-rec) will be undoubtedly familiar with Kenny's impeccable body of work, and for the rest an eye-opening treat awaits. Here, Kenny gathers highlights from his recent live sets and newly recorded material, arranged and refined into a perfect contemplation of the crisp arboreal air, a vivid composition of body and sound entwined tightly beneath the earth. This is Live recording of the last hour from the 3-hour opening set at Ankali x Stimul w/ Alfred Czital, Donato Dozzy, fleika & Phuong Dan in March 2022.

Lucie Stepankova aka Avsluta dedicates her creative practice to free improvisation, live performance, curation and DJing. In her live performances, Lucie co-creates with objects and natural materials, field recordings, electronics and digital processing to embody speculative narratives via sound-making. The general aim is to encourage audiences to engage in listening as an active-creative practice and reconnect with and manifest emotions. Similar sentiments often flow through her diverse DJ sets oscillating between ambient and dance music.
Lucie runs Introspective Electronics, a platform exploring the vast diversity of ambient, downtempo and electronica and featuring regular radio shows and guest podcast series. Together with the London-based DJ and producer Alicia, she co-curates Terra Obscura, a quarterly event series inspired by the new generation of chill-out-tinged UK bass. In collaboration with Christian Duka and IKLECTIK, she co-organises SONIC GARDEN, a series of experimental ambient and downtempo events at IKLECTIK's Old Paradise Yard.

Human Lessons #069 - Avsluta

#114 brings the talented Italian duo, Primal Code (@primalcodemusic), to the animix series, an act who have become known for their distinctively soulful & hypnotic interpretation of atmospheric techno.

Their recent release on @kalaharioystercult was one of my favourites of last year, a unique & modern fuse of dub techno, acid & modular sounds, resulting in a magically squelchy, deep, subterranean body of work. Before that, releases on the prolific @hypnus & @konstrukt cemented their style. This mix is a lovely continuation of that.

"The sun begins to set. That autumn light sketches itself behind an idyllic landscape. Mountains rocks where there is snow in winter. A unique balcony. Surrounded by lush black pine and damp green grass, that unmistakable smell of nature. And in the background the beat, that beat that the context has transformed into something organic. And you, there in paradise on Earth."

Influenced by ambient electronics and chromaticism, Guillam (@guillam) pursues depth through the exploration of sound and composition. Soothing soundscapes, unfolding rhythms and organic textures are elements present in his music and dj sets. He is one of the curators on board along with Refracted (@refracted-music) in Paral·lel festival (@parallelfestival).  This is a live recording DJset during the Midline night curated by ABSIS (@absismusic) in Laut (@laut_barcelona) on February 9th.
