Monochrome presents, Eté II : Vardae, Cosmic Wave.

This summer, Monochrome is offering each month to one or several artists to discover their influences and inspirations through a forty-five minute to two hour recording. These three recordings will focus on Ambient, IDM and Dub-Techno.

Artist biography :

Vardae, a project with one ambition, that of breaking away from the genre barrier to explore new sounds around the love for psychedelic music. A powerful sound going from dub to tribe through techno and drum'n'bass. A universe where immersion and experience prevail over codes with the idea of offering a journey at each of his appearances.

Joan Gila (joan-gila) is defined as a music connoisseur. He has been collecting records since he was 15, and his great passion is rummaging through boxes to discover hidden gems. Joan is the creative mind and curator behind the HOC radio podcast platform (@hoc-radio). Additionally, he is part of the DJ duo Binomi (@binomi) alongside his longtime friend, where they have performed at various venues in Barcelona and beyond, including notable events like Mostra Festival or Perpendicular. They also released a music talk show at Dublab Barcelona called "Geography and History." Moreover, Binomi and his partner in crime Nico have a project called HIRU, where they are in charge of creating captivating sound journeys in the Laut every two months.
This year, he launched a small cassette and digital music label based on ambient and avant-garde sounds called "Red Edge" (@red-edge-label), with a first work by ABSIS.

In this podcast, I have tried to create a sort of soundtrack inspired by dark and repetitive sounds, interspersed or juxtaposed with textures or experiments that aim to build a shifting atmosphere of intrigue and even a certain discomfort, alternating with the pleasure and serenity that deep drones provide, even when stemming from dark tones.

In 2023, a new private space opened in Madrid with the goal to become a meeting point purely for the enjoyment and discovery of underground music. Since 2022, Espacio Perpendicular has broadcasted some of its many meetings and recordings here on 9128.live. 2024 sees the second season of the programme.

For the first week of 2024 and the return of the Espacio Perpendicular weekly program, we have a colorful mix by one of the heads of the EP project, Doozer, responsible for brokenloop podcast series.

Kamil Kowalczyk is an accomplished electronic musician/audio artist who    has been experimenting with electronic music and sounds since 2002. Originally from Poland, Kamil is currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland, from where he produces his cutting edge music and performs live to spellbound audiences across Scotland and beyond. 
Kamil has always been interested in sounds, particularly “electronic sounds”, ie those created through using artificial devices like synths or through of the synthesis of different kinds of sounds, or “anything in-between”.
Since childhood he has had a fascination for listening to the sounds that surround us, the sounds created by nature, by machines, by everyday devices and everything which seems “unusual”.
His first experiments with sounds came in 1996, when he began to use a simple old Casio keyboard and a tape deck, playing around and producing random-sounding “noise” and “drone”, without knowing the terms for such
things existed.
Around 2002 he started working with computers and software to compose his music and experiment with sounds. Since 2006 he has released ten albums in mp3 format on the renowned US net label ‘Zenapolae’. 
In 2010 Kamil made his live debut, playing atmospheric and boundary-breaking gigs to audiences at various venues in Scotland, Ireland, England and Poland. In the same year he also established his very first label, ‘Prototyp Produktions Ltd’, as a platform to release and promote his music  and other audio visual works which will appear in the future. 
He is also running a concert series in Edinburgh called “Soundscapism”, a series of performances which are focused on ambient, drone, soundscape
and space electronic music.

The summer Plex in 2011 saw us bring over Morphosis for a full hardware live set, a returning DJ Pete and a debut set from Holland's man of the moment, Delta Funktionen. Room 2 had a full-on Brackout special in memory of the sadly deceased Plex resident Ben Bracket.

With a number of superb releases already under his belt on Delsin Records and Ann Aimee, Niels brought the fire to the main room with a really deep trippy set which went through the gears very nicely over 2 hours.
