Another song, another milestone. This time, I've finally delved into creating a piece of original music in the Hazbin universe, centred around a character who's become one of my favourites for his visual design and the potential of what his role and circumstances could bring to the show. 

The general idea for the song was to show how Vox is a controlling business man who uses electronics and his powers to get what he wants. He can see the desires of others through their devices and their data, he can manipulate what they read and buy and his name is on everything as we saw in Alastor's comic. And yet even he isn't able to escape the whims of someone who can be just as controlling and manipulative.

I feel that UK Hardcore has somewhat lost it's way lately, focusing on big 'drops' and sticking to a formula akin to EDM rather than creating the energy and melodic highs that I used to love about this music. This track is an attempt to recapture the vibe from the late 2000 era, I hope you enjoy.

With all the glowing praise of the comic dubs from the Hazbin community, putting this together as a thank you for all your support was really fun. It was the first time I've actually put my singing into anything that I've released publicly and it only inspired me to make more covers in future.

Another cover project from my YouTube page, this time being Vera Lynn's 'We'll Meet Again' in character as Alastor. This features originally created backing music adapted from a wonderful piano arrangement by Neil Archer (please check out his work here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJrFSEoQsjywQSzjOJCwTjw).

I wanted to do something a little special for this one since it was requested of me quite a lot. I wanted to frame the song like a scene from the show, with Alastor playing the song on the piano for the listener as his powers fluctuate around him. I hoped it would give off a bit a more sinister air about it on certain lines to make it stand out.

A miniature musical experience, using Lady Gaga's and Ellise's songs '911' in character as Angel Dust. This features originally created backing instrumentation, sound design and voice acting in an attempt to tell a story.

This was the third time outing for my singing efforts, this time with a rather popular request of these songs by many of the listeners on my YouTube channel. Voting polls showed both 911s were desired, so I decided to combine the two of them and make a short scenario or story using other sound design and voice acting to bridge the gap.

Another cover project from my YouTube page, this time being Melanie Martinez's 'Show & Tell' in character as Angel Dust. It features originally created backing music from scratch.

This is one that quite a few of my viewers have been asking for for some time and I agree that it's a track that fits Angel as a character nearly perfectly. The instrumental was incredibly difficult to recreate as the original had lots of different effects and attention to small details, but I'm very proud of how it came out. 

As with past covers like 'We'll Meet Again', the sound design in the 'introduction was an attempt to better match Angel with how Melanie Martinez originally performed the song. The intent was to make it sound like he's putting on an "innocent" tone in how he says some of the lines, with the song being an internal monologue that he's thinking about when he's been forced to go on stage.

A full cover version of 'Valentino' in character as Angel Dust and Vox, featuring originally created backing instrumentation and sound design. A big thanks to 
Danielle Bradford for bringing this song to my attention and inspiring me to do this one.

The original song almost feels like an anachronism to a scary degree. Originally released in February 2019 by Years & Years and MNEK, more than half a year earlier than the Hazbin pilot, it's a song with two male vocalists speaking about a lover called Valentino who lured them in with charm and trapped them. It's scarily accurate to the show and I knew I had to do it with Angel and Vox once I heard it myself. Especially since it allowed me to imagine/write a scene of them sharing their experiences regarding their 'associate'.

Vox was probably the trickiest part of all this. Obviously, I didn't want to remove the distortion effects I've used for him when he is singing, but too many of them would easily be distracting from the performance and even cloud his words. I decided to focus on very specific "skipping" effects that matched the music, along with using a rather extensive vocoder to really sell the electric nature of his voice. 

This song was also a prime chance to utilise some new instrument libraries I recently acquired, particularly with acoustic guitars and string sections. I don't think this would sound nearly as good without them. Enjoy.
