On ‘Skybox’, the fifth and final single before the release of his album ‘Close Distance’ on April 8th, FloFilz collaborated with UK jazz supremos Blue Lab Beats, who recently have stirred a wave with the release of their album ‘Motherland Journey’.

‘Close Distance’ literally means “near in space or time” (or “nah dran”, as we say in German). The 16 songs on ‘Close Distance’ came to life over the past two turbulent years. It is no exaggeration to say that FloFilz has not only created another inspiring album with ‘Close Distance’ but one that demonstrates how music can close the distance which we all have experienced (and still do) in a beautiful way. With features by UK Jazz supremos Alfa Mist and Blue Lab Beats, London R&B artists Jerome Thomas and KeepVibesNear, long-term musical partners Summers Sons & C.Tappin, UK Jazz/Hip-Hop trio Dal & Cape Town Neo-Soul singer and songwriter Hunter Rose. ‘Close Distance’ will be released digitally and on LP with artwork by Indonesian illustrator Fatchurofi.

Exposed to music from a young age, FloFilz grew up in Belgium before moving to Aachen, Germany where he studied the violin and classical music, while also playing in orchestras. In addition to his parents, who were both musicians, he cites Hip-Hop icons A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla and Madlib as key influences. Recognised as one of Germany’s most in-demand producers, the self-taught bedroom beatmaker has built his reputation led by his seductive blend of Lo-Fi, Soul and Jazz-influenced groves. Taking great inspiration from London's Jazz scene he has previously collaborated with the likes of MF DOOM, Alfa Mist, Barney Artist, Ivan Ave, Blu, JuJu Rogers, Biig Piig, K.A.A.N., J.Lamotta and K, Le Maestro.

Manchester-based Producer Pitch 92 graces us with a fresh take on “Submerge”, his recent collaborative album with Jerome Thomas, presenting a reimagined selection of its instrumentals. “Bad & Boujeé - Beat Edit” is the new single.

With production embodying golden age swing and soul despite his youth, Pitch 92 is etching his own path into the modern hip hop landscape. Born in Dublin in 1992, Pitch grew up in Germany and Switzerland where the sounds of Madlib and Dilla fired his neurons and heart. Surrounded by creativity in the guise of close friends ASM (A State Of Mind), the crew got him to pick up his first MPC at age 12, graduating from the SP 303 sampler he was already familiar with.

Pitch moved to the UK in 2008 and quickly embedded himself into the Manchester hip hop scene. He met The Mouse Outfit and began playing MPC live along with the band – before long, he was a core element in the studio, his jazzy boom bap the nucleus of the first two Mouse Outfit albums, Escape Music (2013) and Step Steadier (2015).

Producing and touring Europe with the Mice for seven years, Pitch departed in 2017 to pursue a solo career. He has since released with renowned labels High Focus and First Word Records.

Dwelling on a nature reserve on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, tucked away in his self built studio cabin, Gas Lab has been steadily honing his unique sound to create his latest Jazz and Soul Hip Hop masterpiece "Blue Room". Fusing together samples from his talented friends who frequent on his tracks (ie. Juan Klappenbach, Hector Mario, Andrew Gould, etc), Gas Lab lays the groundwork with him impeccable beats and those soul filled bass lines you can spot from a mile away.

"Blue Room" is cool, in the truest sense of the word, with strong nods to Cool Jazz and music eras of days past, still keeping it ultra fresh with laid back loose beats and flow that will have you smiling all the way through. Hailing from Atlanta, GA, Darryl Reeves is a saxophonist that effortlessly merges the lines between funk, soul & hip-hop, expressed from a platform rooted in jazz. Growing up in a musical family, Reeves attended the Northwestern Performing & Visual Arts Center in Miami. Moved by hip-hop samples originating from jazz, Reeves was led to being influenced by greats such as Charlie Parker and John Coltrane. Reeves studied music at Jackson State University. He subsequently completed his Masters of Music at the University of New Orleans, where he studied with Terence Blanchard and performed on the scene with Delfeayo Marsalis. In 2004, Reeves released the funky and playful Diary of a Bandstand, to ample acclaim. It featured Robert Glasper, Russell Gunn & Quamon Fowler and cemented Reeves' reputation for presenting a new outlook on the sound, style and production of jazz music. Reeves has kept a steady hand in not being limited to any specific genre. Some know him just as well for his production in hip-hop. Reeves caught Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson's attention with his ingenious jazz-funk remixes of Jay-Z's Black Album, which was spun upon many of the drummer's dj sets. Recently in Atlanta, he has been the music director of many highly acclaimed live sets with Aishah Rashied Hyman's Spreadlove and DJ Kemit. He has performed and recorded with notable artists including Roy Ayers, The O'Jays, Frank McComb, Angie Stone, Kirk Whalum, Jill Scott, Phonte, Toku, Janelle Monae,  Young Jeezy, B.O.B. and T-Pain.
