Exploited’s semi-regular “mini compilation” series continues, with Shir Khan collecting together a highly eclectic quintet of new cuts from the label featuring Nathan Ball & SevenDoors, Radiophobia, Kraak & Smaak, Athlete Whippet and Aklay. 

1. Nathan Ball - Right Place (SevenDoors Rework)

SevenDoors is a producer and DJ from the deep within the depths of the ocean from the abyss where music consist of tonal strings. He calls his style ‘Sound of the Whales’. Sometimes it's dark, sometimes punchy, emotional or seductive. 'Right Place' is a track which was originally written by Nathan Ball and now has been transported to the dancefloor by SevenDoors. The track was premiered in his BBC Afterhours Mix for Pete Tong and finally sees the day of the light. 

2. Radiophobia - If You Ever Change Your Mind

Defined by their unique, experimental sound rather than an excessive fear of radiation, the affliction for which they are named, Radiophobia released their debut release ’Can’t Stop Believing’ on Exploited in late 2015. Inspired by a variety of genres, from minimalist techno to retro acoustic and 70s inspired vocals, the secret project’s offering ’If You Ever Changed Your Mind' is a catchy, melancholic, psychedelic dance tune. 

3. Kraak & Smaak - Hendo

The Hendo track came about after a long period of working on last year’s Juicy Fruit album material. As is often the case, creative juices flow slowly for a while, but then, all of a sudden, there is that spark again. With the upcoming Ibiza season in mind this track rolled out quite quickly, an autonomous club tune that will be available just in time for Summer dj sets all over the globe. What does it sound like? Think the quirky Scandinavian disco sound meets Kraak & Smaak. A staple track for everyone's record bag this Summer.

4. Athlete Whippet - 3am

Athlete Whippet is disks & dance duo formed of Squareglass co-founders Aviram Barath and Robin Paul Braum. Since their debut in September 2016 the Peckhamer’s hazy sun-kissed House found love by DJs worldwide including Scuba, Bicep, Laurent Garnier, Rob da Bank and Tom Ravenscroft as well as support by BBC1 & 6 and XLR8R, Resident Advisor, DJ Mag, Delicieuse Musique and Thump. With a good hand for remixes, the duos releases have come with reworks including Dekmantel’s Awanto 3, Lobster Theremin’s Ross From Friends, Brownswood’s Simbad and Horse Meat Disco founder Severino. A quick start to 2017 has already seen the Whippets release two singles and curate one of the main stages for Peckham Rye Music Festival which they will be sharing with Teki Latex and Ian Pooley.

5. Aklay - Return Order 

There is not much known about Aklay - besides he is living in Berlin studying music production and doing some part time work at a label management company. Originally from the land of Nottingham in the UK. Star Wars and Man United fan. 1 half of the record label CIRCA Records (currently under refurbishment).

Newcomers http://soundcloud.com/kingandearly make a big impression with their debut release 'Moving Forward'. A tune that instantly caught the ears of label owners Icarus and led to the track becoming a staple in their club sets. 

A beautiful collection of soundscapes and subtle piano notes gently ease in for an emotive intro, leading into an eery vocal sample which draws you in before opening up into an infectious, floaty arp line that meanders throughout the track. This is a truly well crafted, euphoric piece of club music that had already been mesmerising crowds across the world.

Pairing somber piano chords with a hard-hitting drumbeat, Jerro reflects Kauf's introspective vocals as he expresses the difficult feelings of obsession and anxiety in a relationship. In his up-tempo reimagining, Durante pairs the original melancholic lyrics with bright plucked synths and energetic percussion.

A musical journey started by two friends back in 2012, combining forces on their past production output and musical roots merging into the techno project ‘Park & Sons’. The Dutch-born -and Amsterdam-based techno-duo consists of Jorik van de Pol & Vincent Leijen.

Back in 2015, they started organizing warehouse raves under the ‘Compass’ name in a massive port-warehouse in the city of Arnhem, Netherlands. After hosting and playing numerous raves feeding their production drive and talent, they felt the urge to share their own musical creations with the world.

Their sincere dedication towards techno music skyrocketed their first imprint ‘Park & Sons Music’ with one of their early releases ‘Uncle Carl’ (an ode to the one and only) back in 2016. This lovechild gained massive support from the man Carl Cox himself, who even opened his last-ever legendary Space Ibiza set with this track in full-length.

Through a string of remixes and originals in the years that followed, they secured substantial live- support from heavyweights in the industry. Adam Beyer, Carl Cox, Joris Voorn, Hot Since 82 & Maya Jane Coles, all playing their music on influential shows like Ultra/Resistance Miami, Boiler Room Johannesburg, Space Ibiza & Awakenings.

The Park & Sons’ discography also steadily increased with standout releases such as: “Icarus (To The Sun)” ft. Nathan Nicholson, frontman of UK indie band The Boxer Rebellion, “Epoch” and their unique one-off collaboration “This Feeling” with Roger Sanchez ft. Julie McKnight on New York’s legendary Strictly Rhythm label. This has not left them unnoticed getting airtime on tastemaker radio-shows like BBC R1, Beats1, Sirius XM, Radio 538 & Slam FM and collecting a couple of million streams already on their self-released tracks.

Over the years they have become consummate and globally in-demand DJs, spreading their signature sound at many of the leading clubs and festivals around the world, such as: Ultra/Resistance Seoul, Beijing & Shanghai, Elrow, Spectrum by Joris Voorn, Free Your Mind, Soenda & Rotterdam Rave just to name a few.

2019 launched a long-desired new chapter in the life of Park & Sons unveiling their new Kobra Records imprint, propelling the clearly grown and dynamic duo deeper into techno spheres. The label prefers releasing music in EP format encouraging artistic diversity, whilst also hosting a creative hotspot for up-and-coming and established artists. Kobra Records had lift-off with Park & Sons’ critically acclaimed EP’s “Stellar Nights” and “Seoul” and has more musical techno stories up its sleeve. Rumor has it a live show is in the making too, so watch this techno space.
