Ta-ku made his live debut at New York's MoMA PS1 in October 2015.

Regan Matthews, better known by his stage name Ta-ku, is an Australian musician, producer and photographer.

His debut Songs to Break Up To EP was released 8 October 2013 via HW&W Records and Sunday Records. His follow-up Songs to Make Up To EP was released in June 2015 via Future Classic and Fool's Gold Records,which debuted at No. 18 of the ARIA Album Chart.

Ta-ku has featured on Boiler Room and toured around Australia as part of Listen Out festival in 2014. In May 2015, Ta-ku was a Youth Speaker at TEDxSydney. Matthews is also a co-founder of Weston's Barbershop in Northbridge, Perth.

I was heartbroken and was just starting to put the pieces back together. But I lost focus on what was happening at school and became increasingly overwhelmed when suddenly I had graduated from college feeling empty in my both my personal life and now my professional life. Ouch. Could I put food on the table and pay my rent writing about you?

I know that they’ll kill me if I don’t start putting them down
But maybe that’ll save me from having to figure life out

Maybe that’s why it’s been so hard for me to want to leave
Nevertheless I have hidden some tricks up my sleeve

(One year ago) I fell in ~love~ with someone that simultaneously fell out of love [sic] with me, all as I was about finish college with absolutely no idea what I was going to do with my life. As I assessed the damage in the wake of graduation, and as everyone around me moved forward with their lives while I remained stuck in the same place, these songs came out of me like shrapnel. I used live drums and drum machines to vocode guitars, synths, and pianos to suck the life out of the mixes to echo how life had been sucked out of me. And I used digitally crafted harmonies to lift up my fragile vocals. In succession, they’re about as hollow sonically as I was emotionally, but they look with optimism to resolve at the close- follow along with the lyrics in the track descriptions to better trace the narrative I’m trying to tell and like and share if you're picking up what I'm trying to put down. This isn’t an LP, this is my POV.
