@virtue_signal aka Sam Haque is a DJ, producer, writer, and heathen who proudly calls New Orleans home.

Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, he spent his early childhood years in Osaka, Japan and then Maryland, USA before eventually digging his roots into New Orleans.

His origins in music & nightlife were on the dancefloor, a sacred space of free expression and catharsis. He started out as the sweatiest dancer in the New Orleans underground/DIY scene, and hustled his way through the community to take on a variety of roles - nightlife journalist, artist liaison, and artist manager. Over time, he found his own voice as an artist, and continues to hone his craft on the decks as well as in the studio.

Fave venue (current or past): Upstairs at the Dragon's Den. A place where I learned how to dance (and learned that I like dancing!!).
Fave record store: NOLA Mix Records on Magazine St.
Dream b2b partner: I would love to tag with 214 on some ice-cold electro cuts.
Track of the moment: Hot Chip - Fire of Mercy (Yunè Pinku Remix); cannot get enough of this track, it is so lovely!
Inspo for your mix (2-3 sentences): I always wear my mood on display when I deejay, and this mix is no different. It's a mixture of unhinged, intensely focused, syncopathic, and gremlinesque. There's like 4 of my unreleased productions in there too! Hope y'all like it!
Anything else fun that you'd want to share about upcoming plans, gigs, goals, etc! I feel so very inspired to write and produce music this year. Working on remixes has been a lot of fun for me and I feel open to doing more. No restrictions on genre - I love a challenge so please reach out y'all!
I also have a couple of remixes due for release in the near future that I'm very proud of. Stay tuned. :)

Re-born in the dark, foggy, sweaty dancefloors of the underground, his musical selections gravitate towards all forms and formats that compel dance and desire.  He follows a lineage of New Orleans DJs that hoard a wide-ranging library of deep cuts across many genres. Combining old-school discipline & work ethic with new-school audacity, he is a devout disciple in the DJ booth and the studio.
