Field Records is to release a two-CD compilation of music from the label's artists old and new entitled simply, Collection.

The first of three samplers features Acronym, Ben Buitendijk and Voiski. Acronym's track '16 Cygni' is a sci-fi bit of techno that is speedy, slick and intergalactic, whilst Ben Buitendijk offers up some Millsian, streamlined techno urgency with his 'Colourblind' and finally Voiski gets all elastic and industrial tinged with his whip lashing effort.

DOCTA’s third release, Forms sees Marco Bruno take the helm for a courageous – yet refreshingly functional – journey through contemporary electronic soundscapes.

The alarming mood of Aesthetic, demanding the listener’s full attention from the get-go, is matched in intensity by thundering grooves on Shattered: both tracks achieve dancefloor catharsis through expertly balanced, driving low-ends that find a narrative resolution with the emergence of finely articulated chord progressions.

Forms then ascends through the expert interposition of Claudio PRC, who reimagines Aesthetic with a timeless rework of ethereal dub inspiration and avant-garde technical ambition.

Horizon concludes the journey, landing somewhere between London and Detroit with an emotionally resolving pattern of modern breaks.

Field Records embarks on a new mini trilogy of EPs that will present a magical journey through modern-day trance. First up in the series is Artefakt with their three track effort The Final Theory. Dutch producers Robin Koek and Nick Lapien make up Artefakt, and between them they excel at moody voodoo music on labels like Delsin and Field. 

They open this latest EP with the title track, a deep, spacious house roller with subtle pads and gentle acid that perform slow motion acrobatics for nearly ten minutes. It is suspensory, dreamy music that works on the head as well as the heel. Moving Horizon is then less doleful and introspective but just as deep, with sweeping pads add a sense of scale, busy drums bring the dynamism and icy percussive sounds adding a sense of urgency. Last but not least, Solaris is a fatter, more physical groove with claps and gloopy bass, acid flashes and trancey pads all fleshing out a lush and deep electro workout. This is heavenly stuff that cannot fail to get inside your head and heart.

Alan Fitzpatrick’s latest EP is the product of a particularly productive six months of studio time for the Drumcode regular. Containing five tracks that cover a circular range from pre-party ambiance to tripped-out melodic odyssey; vocal laced, chord driven hooks; barnstorming peak-time hammers; and 123bm afterparty grooves; there is more than the ‘usual’ Drumcode fare on offer within the aptly named ‘Life Through Different Eyes’ EP. A significant release for artist and label; the sonic incarnation of Fitzpatrick’s growing maturity as a producer and an indication as to the next evolution of the Drumcode sound.
