Lovetempo is the brainchild of Mattie Safer, known for his work as the singer and bassist of Poolside and The Rapture. Since its inception, Safer has fused saudade sentimentality and jazz-funk excursions with modern dancefloor sensibilities. Through body, soul, and basslines, lovetempo explores the triumphs and travails of the heart. This year he released two captivating singles, “But I Do” out on Razor-N-tape, followed by “Maybe In Another Life.” Both tracks got smashed on BBC6 Music, KCRW, and Jazz FM, with high praise from Gilles Peterson on both his shows.

Here lovetempo returns with ‘Live Or Die By Love’ that serves as both a manifesto and a mantra for his core message: that love endures as a constant guiding force through love’s challenges. It consists of three original cuts, the 90s house-influenced title track and two smooth disco cuts ‘We Can Make It Happen’ and ‘Part-Time Love Affair’. The lead track receives a remix from the legendary Eric Kupper, celebrated for his collaborations with Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, and Arthur Baker, as well as his own solo remixes and productions.

Surprisingly, 13 months have passed since the previously prolific Andy Buchan last released an EP of his own. This three-tracker on the label he co-founded, Hot Gorilla, is therefore well overdue. Buchan's trademark sample-rich disco/house fusion sound comes to the fore on excellent opener 'Stand Up', where borrowed disco diva vocals and warming electric piano chords ride a jazzy bassline and rolling disco breaks. 'Bingo Bango' is a forthright and funky disco-house roller rich in rubbery slap bass, echoing vocal snippets, Italo-disco electronics and layered percussion, while 'Disco Stroke' is a fine rearrangement of a heavy disco-funk slammer.

My creative process is based on recording my environment, capturing sounds from the streets, bars, restaurants, or concerts... Anonymous recordings, stolen from the world around me. Nothing original, often very mundane sounds: children playing, birds singing, bells ringing... 

From this base and my guitar, I try to make each track to live like a short film. Whether it is a tale of adventure, nostalgia or dream, each tracks will invites you to visualize your own narrative and for somes one a very personal story.
