British icon, DJ and actor Idris Elba returns to Defected with the fiery house heater ‘La Trumpeta’. The homegrown DJ turned global A-lister first released with the label in 2020 with ‘No More Looking Back’ in collaboration with Inner City, and in the following years the demand for more Idris culminated in headline slots at Defected’s events at The Warehouse Project and Miami Music Week. This new single comes hot on the heels of his remix of ‘The Cure & The Cause’, adding significant Afro electronic flair to the 2006 Defected anthem. Now he unveils his first solo original track with the London label, ‘La Trumpeta’, showcasing Idris’ signature global sound in full force; a powerful Latin trumpet solo dominates, signalling the arrival of pounding four on the floor breakdowns that have major club appeal. Expect more to come from the powerhouse pairing that is Defected and Idris in 2024.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future, as the powerhouse pairing of Low Steppa & Crusy return for ‘Bullerengue’. The Simma Black label boss and chart-topping producer Low Steppa is a firm friend of Defected, headlining many of the label’s events globally including Dubai, Malta, Croatia and Manchester’s The Warehouse Project. His previous release with Spanish selector Crusy, ‘This Is The Sound’, made waves on DFTD in 2023, marking the start of a fruitful relationship between the two celebrated producers and DJs. ‘Bullerengue’ takes inspiration from the traditional sounds of Colombia and Panama, complete with native vocal samples over driving club-ready beats as this international collaboration fully represents the power of Defected’s Together series.

Ferreck Dawn returns to Defected Records alongside revered producer New Machine and established Irish vocalist Maverick Sabre with ‘For The Weekend’. The Dutch heavyweight producer Ferreck Dawn has had a major year so far, recently releasing ‘Friends Around (Set It Off)’ alongside GUZ, as well as collaborating with MEDUZA, Clementine Douglas and more across the Defected family of labels. Similarly, New Machine and Maverick Sabre will release their full-length LP as part of YOURS alongside SÓLLER and Jake Hall, following a string of acclaimed releases including ‘DONDÉ ESTÁ’ and ‘LOVE MIGHT MAKE ME BETTER’. Together, the three artists create throwback charm with ‘For The Weekend’; Maverick’s tight vocals are layered in octaves, looping in ecstasy over Ferreck and New Machine’s hypnotic sub-bass and expansive production touches.

On the latest release, Riva Starr joins forces with Hilit Kolet for ‘Twerq It’ featuring NEZ. No stranger to the Defected family, Riva Starr’s relationship with the label continues to blossom, following standout releases like ‘Love Divine’ and his celebrated Defected House Masters collection– not to mention standout performances at Defected’s flagship festival in Croatia and their Ibiza residency at Ushuaïa. 

Fast-rising London DJ and producer Hilit Kolet also has a history with the label, with Defected releasing her debut single ‘Techno Disco’ and its follow-up release ‘POV Siren’ on Faith marking her as a serious name to watch, before this year’s trio of singles ‘Hot Mess’, ‘Everything Is Amazing’ and ‘Snap Talk’ cemented her reputation as the producer behind the bleeding edge of 2024’s fiercest beats. Joining the two mercurial producers on vocal duty is Chicago artist NEZ, a house music maverick whose distinct flow has featured on collaborations with Moodymann, Eats Everything and HoneyLuv. The three have all carved out their own distinct lanes in house, and now they join forces for Defected’s Together series with ‘Twerq It’, a record built for the club, its sharp lyricism and addictively stripped-down worked to the bone rhythms delivering a modern masterclass in tension and release.

Soaring to #5 in the UK singles chart at the time, the legacy of Marc Pomeroy’s vocal club cut lives on well into the 2020s. Now, as part of the Together series celebrating Defected’s 25th anniversary, which integrates talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future, Defected revisits this timeless gem with a fresh remix from Prunk. One of the Netherland’s most valued musical exports of recent times and PIV founder, Prunk adds his signature bounce to the record for another unmissable addition to the Together series.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future as Joseph Capriati delivers two remixes of Sandy Rivera’s ‘I Can’t Stop’. Originally released via Defected in 2002, ‘I Can’t Stop’ showcased Defected House Master Sandy Rivera’s ear for jackin’ minimal groove, with old school stuttered vocals and keys making for a club record that still receives play to this day. Over two decades later, the globally revered Italian champion Joseph Capriati steps up on remix duties, following another knockout summer in Ibiza with sets for Circoloco at DC-10, Jamie Jones’ Paradise closing party, and his headline show Metamorfosi at Amnesia to name a small few. Capriati delivers two remixes of ‘I Can’t Stop’, the first showcasing the revered producer’s signature deep house sound that fills dancefloors globally, with the second paying homage to the groovin’ sound of Sandy Rivera’s OG, for the heads in the know.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future as FCL’s ‘It’s You’ receives a remix from Alex Wann and a live mix from FCL member Red D with OG vocalist Lady Linn. A modern classic from Belgian house duo FCL that garnered global attention in the summer of 2013, San Soda's Panorama Bar Acca Version of ‘It’s You’ was praised for its uniquely stark composition - one that bucked genre trends in favour of sheer musicality and vocal house vibes. With only 100 vinyl copies released on Red D’s We Play Recordings initially, the rare track was soon picked up by Defected; remixes from a host of huge names followed, including MK, David Morales, and Mousse T., while the seminal track featured in The Guardian, Attack Magazine and Resident Advisor. Now ten years later, Parisian maestro Alex Wann adds his name to the list of remixers, delivering an ethereal remix built from Afro electronic inspired rhythms and dreamlike keys. Also on the package, FCL member Red D teams up with ‘It’s You’ vocalist Lady Linn for a live mix - an edit made from the original 1986 track by ESP, featuring newly recorded vocals on top.

 Award-winning Australian duo Flight Facilities and Chicago duo DRAMA land on Glitterbox with ‘Dancing On My Own’. Tom Kerridge’s Girls of the Internet collective returns to Classic with ‘The Middle’, featuring vocals from Allysha Joy. October 2024 saw the release of Girls of the Internet’s highly anticipated new LP, ‘When I Was Lost, I Found Myself’, garnering 6 million streams in just a few weeks and continuing to receive major radio play across the UK, Ireland, Australia and tastemaker stations further afield. The final single from the album, ‘The Middle’ features Australian artist Allysha Joy, a deeply expressive writer and vocalist and frontwoman of hypnotic genre-crossing band 30/70.
