RISE founder Hyenah hits the mark every time. Following up an impressive 2021 that saw him contribute a standout ‘Watergate 27’ compilation and EP ‘The Message’ to the club’s imprint, he returns with a new work, ‘Once a Man’. The EP is opening with ‘Words of Love’, a colourful and dramatic track made for bouncing dance floor moments, as the main melody and bass involve themselves in a lively dialogue with one another. ‘The Greed’ sets the mood with African style rhythms, before a twinkling melody line and bass rub shoulders for the remainder of the cut. A handy tool to set the vibe right. The title track brings atmosphere in bags and is made for late night sessions on the Water floor. Copenhagen’s Nandu blesses the EP with a remix of ‘The Greed’ as he teases out the main melody into dreamier territory, while re-moulding the bassline into a gritty beast
