the picture is Davy Graham, from his album "Hat" probably my favourite guitarist, a true pioneer (not of hats) 
I do play this in DADGAD, which Davy was synonymous with, so the image seemed appropriate, even if the playing isn't.  I'm pretty sure he would have been suitably unimpressed with this song🧐

but I certainly enjoyed doing something a little less serious.

My children seek blankets or cuddly toys to comfort them. When I seek comfort/familiarity or reassurance, music offers me warmth, either listening to, or recording.

The picture is a still taken from a video that a friend filmed as part of her media studies degree, filmed at the picaresque Tanfield Railway in the North East of England. Unfortunately the quality of my recording, didn't quite match the quality of her video, but it was cool to do, I got some good shots, and she passed, so all's well that ends well.

This is another oldie, I wrote this one about 15 years ago, and eventually recorded it about 5 years ago, on a 4 track at first, then I think I'd upgraded to the 8 track that I use now,  to polish it up a bit. This track still holds some charm for me, I have nice memories of the time that I wrote it, and also from when I recorded it, so I thought why not share it with SoundCloud.

sometimes I think that maybe it was a mistake to use the name Pa' Shot The Canary, but it's a bit like when you tell a little white lie, it spirals out of control, you get in too deep and then it all becomes irreversible and you are stuck with it. This is Me trying to kill him, in a nice way though.

Does This One Sound Like Me

This is a simple one mic recording, just me and guitar. I've been wanting to put a recording out like this for a while now, just nothing felt right.

My amazing, autistic 9 year old son Harrison inspired this one. He's a great poet, so maybe one day he'll knock me off my perch. So it's me imagining I was him, and writing how I think I would feel, and thinking about my 9 year old self, how I did feel ( too long ago) He often needs to walk around stimming or just needs time alone to himself, just to process the day, the world, I suppose. I can really relate to that myself, and knowing how content I can be in my own company, I suppose I just think that's a cool thing. Autism is a real learning curve though, the spectrum is vast and complex, probably quite misunderstood too. But it's been quite therapeutic, now he's at an age where he can talk about it, and we can all talk and learn about it together as a family.

This is another simple one mic recording. I sometimes like to do this, if it feels right. This one does to me, and sometimes I would struggle to get an authentic vocal if I wasn't playing guitar at the same time, feels a bit more real. Also I've been quite busy over the summer, so it's nice to get a quick song out, and maybe I can do another version at a later date.

So this  Is my song Push It Down The River, but I decided to try singing using my natural Geordie dialect/accent , oddly though it doesn't feel too normal  singing like this, but I've given it a go.
