Il termine Inglese Flare indica un effetto per cui la riflessione della luce, producendo un alone luminoso, attenua il contrasto dell'immagine, rendendola indefinita.
Così, in questa breve miniatura per flauto, i suoni si riflettono, si rinfrangono, si rincorrono, alternando fulgidi bagliori a momenti indeterminati, aurorali, come un'immagine che non è più nitida, o che non lo è ancora.

The English term Flare indicates an effect whereby the reflection of light, producing a luminous halo, reduces the contrast of the image, making it indefinite.
Thus, in this short miniature for flute, the sounds are reflected, refreshed, chase each other, alternating bright flashes with indeterminate, auroral moments, like an image that is no longer clear, or that is not yet clear.

Da un impulso secco poco a poco affiorano in superficie linee sempre più definite, che dilatano la trama unendo le ricorsive verticalità iniziali. Esse si rinnovano prima in una dimensione sospesa e lontana per poi rinascere gradualmente, mutate nel timbro e nella dinamica come breve ripresa che conduce al finale, caratterizzato da un fibrillante dialogo tra gli strumenti del trio.

From a dry impulse, increasingly defined lines emerge on the surface, which dilate the texture by joining the recursive initial verticalities. They are renewed first in a suspended and distant dimension and then gradually reborn, changed in timbre and dynamics like a short take that leads to the finale, characterized by a fibrillating dialogue between the instruments of the trio.

NOTE DA PROGRAMMA:
Theia è un nome che arriva da lontano e che ha viaggiato nella storia attraverso i secoli.
In special modo, affascinante è la teoria dell’impatto gigante, proposta nel 1975 da William K. Hartmann e Donald R. Davis, che ha come oggetto l’ipotesi attualmente preferita dalla comunità scientifica sulla formazione della Luna.
L’idea è che un corpo delle dimensioni di Marte - chiamato appunto Theia - si sia scontrato con la Terra agli albori del sistema solare, lanciando in orbita circumterrestre materiale sufficiente a formare la Luna. Il brano nasce appunto da un impatto, che reiterandosi si sfalda lasciando poco a poco spazio a nuovo “materiale”, sempre generato dalla collisione iniziale, che articolandosi in varie sezioni crea stati e scene suggeriti mirabilmente dal termine utilizzato in partitura: “Neralbo”, che significa appunto “con contrasti di chiaro e scuro, con zone illuminate ed altre in ombra”.

Theia it is a name that comes from afar and that has traveled through history through the centuries.
Especially fascinating is the giant impact theory, proposed in 1975 by William K. Hartmann and Donald R. Davis, which deals with the scientific community's preferred hypothesis on the formation of the Moon. The idea is that a body the size of Mars - called Theia - collided with the Earth at the dawn of the solar system, throwing enough material into circumterrestrial orbit to form the Moon. The piece was born precisely from an impact, which by repeating itself falls apart, gradually leaving room for new "material", always generated by the initial collision, which articulating itself in various sections creates states and scenes admirably suggested by the term used in the score: "Neralbo", which means precisely “with contrasts of light and dark, with illuminated areas and others in shadow”.

Composer

Born in Italy (Naples, 1987), he studied piano and composition at the Conservatories of Naples and Salerno with Antonio Traverso and Giancarlo Turaccio. His training continued by studying with Marco Stroppa and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Ivan Fedele (composition) and Michelangelo Lupone (electronic music).

Important in these formative years were the meetings with the composers Helmut Lachenmann, Franck Bedrossian, Francesco Filidei, Mark Andre, Stefano Gervasoni, Salvatore Sciarrino, Tristan Murail and Pierluigi Billone.
His works have been performed by the Deutsche Radio Philarmonie, KLK string orchestra, Divertimento Ensemble, FontanaMix Ensemble, Syntax Ensemble, AchRome Ensemble, MotoContrario Ensemble, G. G. Arrigoni string orchestra, Kandinsky Ensemble and by the Felix Quartet.

Numerous awards in international competitions including the 1st prize at the KomponisteWerkstatt 2023 in Saarbrücken (Germany) with the orchestra piece Teleri (2022) with a new commission for the Deutsche Radio Philarmonie, the honorable mention at the 2nd Karol Szymanovski International Composition Competition with the piece for solo violin Attraverso tutte le corde (2022) and the first overall prize at the IV International Composition Competition “A. Schnittke" by Lvyv (Ukraine) in 2019 with the piece for string orchestra Ere di lontananza (2019).

In 2021 he is the recipient of the scholarship awarded by the Ensemble Dissonanzen for the piece for string trio Tra le petraie d'un greto (2021) commissioned for the Bagliori 2021 festival.
In 2022, with the Aulicus Classics label, he published his first monographic album "Solo and Chamber Music" containing songs from the solo instrument to the ensemble written between 2020 and 2021.

The works from 2020 to 2023 are published by TEM – Taukay musical editions and by Stradivarius musical editions (Milan). 

From 2023 by Edizioni Suvini Zerboni – SugarMusic S.p.A.

He is currently a teacher in Italian music conservatories.
