Hey friends. Summer is still in full swing (in Germany it’s a bit of a rainy swing so far) and that calls for a fitting Messy Mix. And for the 27th episode I got a true expert on board when it comes to laidback sunny tunes - Christian Beetz from Hamburg, better known in the Soundcloud-verse as @frwctrl (“frequency without control”). He’s been around the scene since the 90s, working as DJ, music blogger and passionate record collector. Right now he’s regularly throwing a “Baleraric Disco Yachtride” boat party in Hamburg and that definitely sounds like an event I should catch whenever I’m in town the next time.

Since Christian’s Soundcloud is loaded with hundreds of delightful mixes for various moods, his involvement in the MESSY MIX series has been a longtime wish of mine. Of course, his hour of selected sounds comes with a summer theme and became a musical tribute to the special lighting conditions on Fuerteventura throughout the day from sunrise to sunset. “I have spent my summer holidays on this island over the last 10 years in a row and I was there for the first time back in the early 80’s,” Christian explains. “The special lighting conditions on the island fascinate me since the first time, so I tried to capture the individual light situations throughout the day in a mix.” 

The result is a selection that starts smooth and relaxing but gains a bit speed throughout its run. Truly a great after hour soundtrack or one for hot summer days. Let me just say, it also works extremely well if you don’t happen to stay onFuerteventura. The set is now up and running on the Messy Mix Soundcloud page. I’ve prepared another music special for you – the first hour will be all about vinyl records from Ex-Yugoslavia that I found on my last trip to Belgrade. It is featuring records released on Jugoton, Jugodisc –before 1981 know as Beograd Disc – and RTB „Radio-Televiiiiizija Beograd“ another state-owned record company that existed during the period of socialist Yugoslavia – the label changed it’s name to RTS afte 1992 when it changed to Radio-television of Serbia. It's a classy Frinda selection, ranging from folk and jazz-rock over balearic synth pop to library and disco-funk (from the late 70s to mid 90s)

My guest for the show is Tom Sky of Sound Essence, and he calls the mix he recorded for me "Cosmic Visions" – featuring Kraut, wave, NDW – it’s a bit more on the experimental side and sounds a bit like a freaky intergalactic radio play from time to time. Cosmic Visions is also the main track of the upcoming cosmic kraut LP „Spakling-Sound-Rock“ by R&S Band on Tom’s label Sound Essence, which is gonna be released in July. You're getting a sneak peak here as the first track of his mix the main track of the LP.

Tokyo resident and Jansen Jarden honcho Max Essa has been making music since the early 90's, he has produced tracks and remixes for labels like Paper, D-Vision, Bear funk, Nang and Tirk... His own solo work, Midnight Garden and Continental Drift feature not only his production work but his elegant guitar playing. (as does his remix of Apollo Heights!) Back to the Beach released from Continental Drift was a huge record and is emblematic of Max's cosmic and crisp production style. In addition to his playing and producing Max is also a serious DJ as his guest set here shows.

UK underground legend Richard Sen's career spans over 20 years of DJ & production work. One of the first wave of serious UK train graf writers, Richard gained notoriety with his musical projects Padded Cell and Bronx Dogs. He has also done production and remix work for LCD Soundsystem, Bryan Ferry, Saint Etienne and The Jungle Brothers amongst others. Richard is an amazing DJ who's style has a dark soulful and psychedelic edge that comes through in the broad range of music he plays. (I had him play my birthday party, he's friggin awesome!) Music For Dreams Radio Show 30.8.25

Our little band has been busy over the summer months working on songs for a fall release.  This is perhaps one of the more spiritually-centered songs we have written and published.  How responsible are we for the evil that has come upon the world, for the resultant suffering it has brought. Peter's beautiful words begin with an act of redemption for mankind, but end with judgement not by God's choice, but man's will. 
The words did not come easily as Peter confesses that his pen "hovered above the last line for several minutes" not wanting to write it, but with a prophet's conviction, knew it must be written. The question is begged by those who will to believe, does the beauty of God's creation also involve justice and judgement, what Luther called "God's alien work"?  
Peter's verse has never been more poignant or Seagull's production more finely crafted. His track note also offers further insight into our thinking on the song and is well worth reading.
