Following on from releasing on the various artists compilation on 3024 - “It Was Always There Vol 1”, Planète returns with a long awaited 4 track exploring new territories and sound landscapes.

Shuffling away from straight grooves of earlier muses, Planète takes time to explore the irregular pulses of broken beat rhythms whilst maintaining introspective colour on this new EP. Central to the messages in his explorations, "Eternal Now" represents a reconfiguration of sonic interpretation and reflection.

Opener 'Stony Creek Reserve' rattles and throbs, consuming a poly-rhythmic bass bedrock and dubbed stabs with crisp and glitched crackles whilst 'Passing Through' lightens the deep with a skipping kick drum and memorable percussion melodies guided by an anchored bass hit.

On the flip, echoing and spooky wooden hits fill the terrain whilst stark bass movements in 'Meteor' rain and mutate a broken techno groove. Closing up, allowing the energy to release, 'Eternal Now' gives rise to vast space in reverberated strikes and wobbled stabs under the hood of slow thuds and thin hisses.

This return shows versatility and growth in sonic descriptions, edging towards a bridge of found sounds and clinical club music. His latest contribution shows the breadth and current appetite for bass centric curations and meticulous high frequency attention refining his signature for evolving storytelling.

Pat Carroll is a Eora / Sydney based alt-electronic artist and multi-instrumentalist that explores deep connectivity between artist and audience spanning cinematic and textural ambience through to more upbeat techno and alt-electronic leaning offerings 

His debut Album, ‘Is Yours, Is Mine’, revolves around a single simple melody. 

"This is something I’m really interested in in music – how parts and themes can be painted in different colours to give them new emotional qualities. What I wanted to do here was to have a melody that the record keeps finding its way back to, but have this melody altered, transformed and presented in different ways. At the start of the record, it is dark and haunting, and by the end it is more cathartic and open."

The layered and provoking 3-track 'Conditions' EP winds through downtempo electronica and moody left-of-field techno sounds.

Having completed a Bachelor of Music (Composition) in 2015 as well as a Master of Music (Composition) in 2016, I am currently amidst the PhD program at The Con.

My current studies looks at links between the structures of (and in) music and visual art. More specifically, it explores how musical structures can be synthesised from the spatial aspects of images.

This comes to life through my three imagined tracks, ‘Materialise’, ‘Gestalt’ and the title track ‘Conditions’.

The 'Conditions' EP is out now on new Sydney label Eyegaze.
