Obzerv - Biohacked

In contrast to their previous EP’s, ‘Xenolith’ ups the intensity focusing on rugged breakbeats and destructive low end pressure. Across four tracks the duo experiment at different tempos, unearthing a myriad of themes inspired by forensic analysis and autonomous technological forces. Like alloys mysteriously grown from ore, fragmented artefacts of familiar origin take on new meaning. ‘Xenolith’ is bound together by complex and dystopian atmospheres forging perhaps Tracing Xircles most intriguing record so far.

This was not one thing or another. The machine was baffled and confused by its perfect array of imperfections which meant it could not be neatly packaged or placed within the categories by which it knew.

See, here was the thing, humans were always wonky. They could not be paired to the constraints of societal brackets, for then there would be little left in the realm of imagination or creative freedom. I was not we - it never had been.

Sparks began to fly as the construct of reality was shattered beneath the weight of its own clumsy foolishness. How had they ever imagined they might get away with it? For they themselves, were wonky after all.

E-Talking is a producer we've followed for years, both independently and as one half of Nummer - the hardware duo who have released music on the likes of Going Good.

E-Talking has appeared independently on the likes of Going Good and AD93 fka Whities. This next EP enters new territories, targeting the club directly with foreboding cuts of electronic music built for the dancefloor.

NSA004 sees the artist moving into expansive electro territory, complete with wubs, rolling percs and sassy machine vox that will have dancefloors cruising into blissful body movements even as it scrambles brains.

You could see it as the signature ‘tough but groovy’ Ben Pest sound, refreshed in style for the more breakbeat inclined. Or maybe you could just call it future funk. Either way, get ready to see some serious shoulder action with this one.

We’ve spent the days regrouping, realigning and now we finally can release a record that is dear to us and has simply been a ridiculously long time coming. 

The ascension of Viers is well charted, and having already played a part in that indomitable sonic crusade we once again submit to his gripping vibrations as he distils them into safe and consumable formats distinguishable to the human ear. The man is untethered and the tunes are disrespectful. We are unapologetic. 6 tracks and no punches pulled, the bruising of egos and maybe some self-assuredness is at hand. "Sir Hiss explores unique liminal spaces, at the hitherto-unexplored nexus where proto-grime meets Drexciyan aqua-electro" - is how we imagine some publications might describe this, a thundering two-tracker on his ever-more essential No More Mailouts imprint. 'Set Speed' may reference classic DJ Krust in the title, but the intense, writhing mid-bass and precision drum work fits right into the waves currently being surfed by DJs such as Ben UFO, Sam Binga and the Zenker Brothers.

'Boom Sound' leads with the kind of grimey flute Wonder dreamt of back in 2003, matching it with a super-direct square bass straight from the JME production archives, but again, the rolling hats and robo-funk clap work places this firmly into the grime / electro crossover world Hiss is boldly exploring in his work.
