For his return to ICONYC we're excited to welcome fran&co & Aves Volare to bring us their take on Frank's 'Taron'.

Frank who knows a thing or two when it comes to mind blowing productions, delivers an irresistible track that kicks things off nicely with the melancholic vibes setting the tone. He roams effortlessly through progressive inspired melodies, while the sultry chords sit wonderfully on top of the driving percussive foundation. Frank takes it up a notch by adding an extra layer of depth, whilst upping the flow with cleverly programmed drumming and his trademark FX elements, without destroying the essence of the main groove. His work deserves to be branded 'essential' in any sense of the word.

On remix duty we welcome back Mad Hatter head honcho fran&co to ICONYC. fran&co who is known for his driving and refined sound, keeps the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before its drum fills and general drive all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear yet sounding totally fresh - This massive touch up takes the energy quantities up a level and increases the drive with stripped back and lucid elements, before the energetic groove creates a blanket of warmth that will put a smile on your face.

The second remix comes courtesy of label alumni Aves Volare, who brings a more driving melodic edge to 'Taron'. His rework creates a good feel vibe from the word go, as the atmospheric and driving vibe keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces that continue building to culminate into this amazing club groover. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a stunning glow and an air of sophistication.

With 'Sanctuary' we welcome back Betoko in collaboration with Dear Deer head honcho Alex Kaspersky, as well as George Absent to ICONYC. The trio, who don't need any introduction, as they are universally known, treat us with a brand-new track that oozes class and sophistication. 'Sanctuary' features rich driving textures; as well as euphoric and moody deep house vibes to satisfy ambient, uplifting and feel good needs, which are the keywords for this beautiful and extraordinary release.

Betoko, Alex & George open proceedings with their smashing original mix. The trio's maturity and musical development is in full swing, they kick off with a deep, hypnotic beat which is interspersed with subtle effective percussion a profound floaty grooves and indie influences, turning this one into an underground anthem with a very soul tangling appeal. Utilizing a hypnotizing groove as the basis of the original underpinned by a rumbling bass that gradually eases its way to the breakdown of breaks percussive elements before unleashing into a rising melodic hook intertwined with the infectious groove that fades in and out for maximum effect.

Italian Maegrit's interpretation opens proceedings on the remix front; he hits all the right chords from the word go. Maegrit's deep entry is interspersing with roomy glowing drive, filtered stabs and stunning groove which beautifully leads into a drop full of tension and excitement, with the understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along. He manages to keep the energy up, allowing the driving melodic house feel to shine thru over the many layers and textures to create a beautiful soundscape to round off this classy underground crowd pleaser.

German based Larsun Hesh's sound is a tough thing to pin down. He is a unique act in the sense that emotionally his creations carry quite a large scope. He is not afraid to explore esoteric or introspective themes and the end result is always a compelling one. Such is the case with his remix of Sanctuary, which carries many of his most loved production hallmarks. From a warm, meaty low end to icy atmospherics and an effects storyboard to get lost in, there is certainly a lot to like. The main break is perhaps the high point, with the mood shifting from emotive to ominous with an effortless ease. It's something you rarely see and he's pulled it off beautifully here.

With 'Sanctuary' Betoko, Alex Kaspersky & George Absent show that there're no boundaries, as this beautiful deep melodic release will leave you with many smile induced moments! The legendary Köpi, located at 137 Köpenicker Straße in Mitte, is a building complex that has become a symbol for the city's leftwing community since it was first squatted in 1990. Over the years it was legalised and has become a safespace for alternative lifestyles and autonomous viewpoints, welcoming socialists, anarchists, queers and musicians alike. Controversial to some, essential to others: Köpi symbolises the tensions inherently at play in the city since the fall of the Berlin Wall and rise of squatting. 

As always, music is the common denominator here and Oliver Koletzki delivers the perfect soundtrack with this new release, while Chrisse Kunst renders the visuals.
