Far removed from his drum and bass singing and the modern space funk grooves of his band Kava Kava, singer Pat Fulgoni travelled back to the Czech Republic to launch the album 'Dark Side Of The Blues' (Faust Records, Prague) at the Sumperk International Blues Alive Festival. Footage from this performance went on to feature in a blues documentary that came second in Czech TV's Grammies!! Subtitled Pat Fulgoni live in Prague, 'Dark Side of the Blues' is a diverse songbook of old blues material from John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson to BB King, Ray Charles to Bill Withers, recorded straight down as live unadulterated blues sessions in the notorious Faust Records Studios, Dejvicka, Prague. Featured on Dark Side of the Blues are musicians from Prague based, BB King connected outfit The Bluesmen. Band leader and guitarist Jan Martinek brings in his young Stevie Ray Vaughan influenced son Lukas Martinek to deliver an awesome rendition of 'Texas Flood'. Other highlights include distinctly soulful versions of BB King and Ray Charles standards 'Thrill Is Gone' and 'Hard Times'.

Its a duet with the late great Diane Charlemagne (RIP) who i reconnected with years later through singing on drum n bass labels like Hospital Records where we both worked with dnb producers like B Complex and London Elektricity. Bill Brewster & Alex Tepper follow up their previous outing on Sprechen (aka the Frottage Pie E.P.) with another helping from their archive of making music as Hotel Motel, this time it's a single affair of hefty vibes on 'Without Your Love' with acclaimed multi genre vocalist, Pat Fulgoni!

Continuing what was started on their previous E.P., Without Your Love continues in the same vein as being instantaneously catch as heck, jacking disco house music. Suitable for dark edged discotheques with sweaty ceilings & smoky dance floors as much as Croatian boat parties in the blazing sun. A hooky & stomping bassline with spaced out synth stabs & squiggles draw you right in before Pat's soothing yet slightly spooky vocal completes the package.

3 remixes sit alongside the OG with each one pretty much carving out its own existence and sounding like totally different tracks! The Tad Wily mix is one for the mutant disco heads who love those tracks which signal the transition part of the night, whilst the Tad Wily Stripped Acid version does exactly that and packs in some 303 squelch which sits atop a broken beat and full on Grandmaster Flash style stabs. The Dark Revisited mix finishes things off but leaves you wanting more with its increase of the epic-ness yet still retaining bags of punch & power for the 'mid part of the night' raves.

Insanely hard to pick a fave on this package and we'd bet our bottom dollar you could prob play all 4 in a set and not have anyone look at you in any other way then 'yessmate'.
