“Gateway” is the 3rd Studio release for Arcturus, following his latest release “Ineffable”. Gateway is a story and an opening to a portal of a journey that is continuing following the journey of “Templates”, the first of Arcturus’s releases. The image represents an offering being made to the higher councils of light, of a frequency key, that holds knowledge and information from the people of earth. This delivering of the frequency key allows for the flow of information between the dimensions of reality, and provided a key for communication between worlds.

Over The Moon is delighted to present our sophomore release, the debut release from a bright new talent on the downtempo scene.  Encounters, from Bay Area based multi-instrumentalist and producer Tyler Hovestadt, is a project that seeks to find balance between organic musicality and electronic exploration.  On 'A Path Beyond', Encounters gently evokes a sense of calm through uplifting tones and thoughtful progression, enveloping the listener in a cocoon of heart centered magic.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Tyler Hovestadt began his musical endeavor by experimenting and improvising with synthesizers as a part of garage jam sessions with his friends. After furthering his craft in sound design and arrangement, he went on to produce his own compositions and establish Encounters. Aiming to marry the digital and analog world, Encounters fuses organic, live-recorded percussion with meticulously constructed electronic soundscapes. 

ABOUT OVER THE MOON:

Over The Moon is the sister imprint of Behind The Sky Music, a record label created by established electronic producer Bluetech which is committed to releasing high quality limited edition vinyl presses of analog and modular synth music.  Formed during the pandemic lockdown, Over The Moon is a collaboration between label partners and longtime friends Evan Bartholomew (Bluetech) and Maggie Houtz (DJ Maggie). The two work closely on co-producing the weekly Twitch audiovisual show Holotropic Happy Hour as well as the various artists Matters of the Heart compilation in summer of 2021 for Behind the Sky. Maggie’s love for - and encyclopedic knowledge of - downtempo electronica is the guiding force in curating a catalog of gorgeous and emotional electronic music.   Over The Moon was born out of an inspiration to showcase more explicitly electronic, beat-driven music that sits just outside the parameters of the Berlin school ambient and analog synth-oriented releases of Behind The Sky.

Encounters - Odds Are


Maitreya (Sanskrit) is the essence of the future Buddha that lives within all things/no-things... We are all eternally enlightened Here and Now if we only awaken to it... In truth, there is no time and therefore there is no future or past, only this eternal moment and it is within this moment that we are Infinite... Thus our potential is Infinite for we are never disconnected from Maitreya by the illusion of time and need only remember that there is nothing to remember at all...

This piece symbolizes the evolution of the contemporary spirit towards the enlightenment experience and its activation in the "real world" through its progression of textures...

Beginning in from the universal sound source of the Om, this piece moves from the mechanical and sensual essence of modern life and society through the ebb and flow of becoming more and more aware of both the intense love and suffering of this world (represented by the movement of the strings) into an infinite space within, full of darkness but pulsing with beams of photons bringing one beyond space and time to the eternal sound of Om...

...awakening into an intricate hyperspace of Satori, we travel through the nexus of the Void upon the wings of a flute to find the realization that there is no realization and that It is beyond all things for: all is and all is not...

Floating back through inner/outer space and reawakening into this realm of Samsara and cyclical existence, the lessons of the Infinite are at first forgotten but then remembered again, creating a complete Self that is represented through the harmonic alignment of the strings and the flute, respectively symbolizing fear and love, darkness and light, the human experience and the buddha, the finite and the infinite...
