This is what I came up with, "Magallanes", about a guy who suffers from a panic attack episode while in the MRT.

Weezer’s “Pink Triangle” was a favorite of mine back in high school. What album about woman problems would be complete without the token lesbian song. The piano plinks here was inspired by Todd Rundgren’s “We Gotta Get You A Woman” while the guitar solo is my poor imitation of Graham Coxon and Miniature Tigers. The Ellen girl here in this song is entirely fictional. Really.

This is my attempt at writing a Carpenters song. Don’t overanalyze the lyrics of this one; it’s all just words-from-a-hat poetry. The coda, which strays from the main melody, is inspired by the way Paul McCartney did his patchwork songs in Wings.

Swimmers (Heart & Mind)

This song is about my wife Cj de Silva. After years and years of dating different women, I realised that I had an aversion towards the ones who had mainstream sensibilities. In the end, I accepted the fact that I could only end up with girls who had an artsy bent, those who didn’t go clubbing on a Friday night. I’ve always been the Zooey Deschanel guy rather than the Megan Fox guy.

Art School Lover (Death To Ordinary Girls)

The first song I ever recorded for PDJ. This was me trying to ape Belle and Sebastian’s poetry. Listening to this song now, however, reminds me of Solveig Sandnes’ Vagabond Squaw album, what with the string arrangements. It’s all dripping with twee. The critic Luis Katigbak told me he really liked the first line a lot, “I needed sympathy / You gave me a review.”

Old demo I made way back in 2005 when I still didn't have good recording equipment. I was heavily into Britpop music back then such as Paul Weller, Travis and The Bluetones.

Patience Dear Juggernaut is the solo project of Manila-based songwriter and filmmaker Wincy Aquino Ong, who writes, composes and plays the music for all of his songs. Ong was a former guitarist of the indie band Narda and is the guitarist-keyboardist of Us-2 Evil-0. He has also done music for TV commercials, short films and full-length features.
