Strange Words 02

I wrote and recorded Bottom Of My Pit in Chakvi, Georgia (5th October) whilst having a few days alone in a huge house for 35 Lari a night – don't ask me how! I recorded Bottom Of My Pit using GarageBand on my iPhone 6s Plus with a nice Apogee MiC. In my typical style I'm rushing to get it out rather than take the time to make it sound good. It's a rough. I'll record it better when I'm back in the UK.

I've got a black cape. You've made a mistake. Patient Pacifist sings 'Black Cape'. A superhero turned bad – revenge is all that is left. I wrote Black Cape back in the early nineties. So, in some ways, recording this song now is a homage to my past self – I tip my hat to you sir – I was crazy and silly back then too – good to acknowledge!

I have a vivid memory of cycling around Tufnell Park, making trumpet sounds, shouting gobbledegook like a crazed dictator sending out orders to the far flung corners of his dominion and singing "I've got a black cape". I like that about superpowers "I don't understand it". Kind of like a victim to our own superpowers. Kinda. Clearly the roles are confused and the song includes both oppressors and victims in varying proportions.

I really got into lazy lollipop girl role for the backing vocals – te he. I've got some great video ideas – that would be fun. This is the second song I've recorded with Tuval Schneerson (@tuvalschneerson). Another great collaboration! Influences were definitely Dinosaur Junior for the screeching guitar. There are other verses but I wanted to keep this song a bit shorter this time.
