Born of the legendary WTF Jam Sessions, those hosted in the Jamboree since 2003, this brand new band decided to stick with the concept that music can be completely improvised on stage at the very moment, giving at the same time a fluent and strong musical message.

Gilles Estoppey (Switzerland), Nicolás Herrera (Argentina), Juan Salvador (Argentina) and Pau Zañartu (Spain) were the four musicians that Aurelio Santos, the MC of the jam, put together to play the 1st volume of what he’d called “The Playground Sessions”. 

No charts, no rehearsal, no clues. Only music by itself created and performed on the spot! Improvising is pretty much like writing music in real time, and as many musicians would like to think, it is one of the most challenging and exciting approaches when it comes to live music. Not only for the performers, but for audiences as well.

PATIO, the Spanish word for “Playground” and the band’s name, defines the concept perfectly and gives us an idea of what to expect about the music this four renowned musicians in the local scene of Barcelona are just about to play.

So stay tuned and keep an eye on this new project! You may have the chance to catch them performing live in the city very soon! Straightforward improvised music, maybe with some very special guests on stage, and lots of fun, because that’s the attitude behind the band: music is a playing game!
