Returning to the Ransom Note Records offshoot, Insult To Injury boss Timothy Clerkin presents four prime cuts of rave meatiness for our ravenous consumption. Showing off his chops, Timothy’s distinctive Acid sound collides head on with Jungle and Breakbeat elements, put through the mincer to form an EP of epic dance floor destroyers.
Our choice here felt to Tour de Trance which takes the tempo down a notch, whilst revving up the Hands-In-The-Air-O-Meter! Big, analogue synths build throughout, sweeping us up and taking us to a place of pure ecstasy by the end.

Apranik Records returns with their second various artist compilation of 2023, Intended Consequence, representing a fresh lineup of Iranian women musicians and producers from across the electronic music spectrum. 

Intended Consequence follows in the footsteps of Apranik’s first compilation Woman Life Freedom, which was released as a response to the women-lead uprisings in Iran after the killing of Mahsa Zhina Amini. This new release includes tracks from label co-founders AIDA and Nesa Azadikhah, as well as some of Iran’s most talented musicians and sound artists such as Rojin Sharafi, Aida Shirazi, Ava Rasti, and more. Rooted in telling the story of Iranian women’s perpetual fight for freedom in Iran, this release paints the picture of power, resistance, and persistence in moments of chaos or calm. 

From the experimental, glitchy club rhythms of AZADI.mp3’s Empty Platform, through the clattering jungle styling of Abji_hypersun’s Resist The God Trick, to the warm breakbeats of Nesa Azadikhah’s Perpetual and shimmering 4/4 loops of AIDA’s Ode To Expectations, this is a proudly diverse and fiercely individual collection of tracks from some of the most talented female artists in electronic music today, and deserves to be recognised as such. Elsewhere you’ll find polyrhythmic electro in the form of Rojin Sharafi’s Dbkkk – a track suffused with both beauty and raw aggression – and the beatless experimentation of Farzané’s Quorl; a highly experiential, amorphous cut that pulses with both organic and mechanical sentience, creating a deeply unsettling and memorable atmosphere.Intended consequences are outcomes that arise from choices we make to do something or be someone despite the risks posed to us. At the moment of choosing, and every moment thereafter, the potential consequences equally living and breathing, exercise our bravery and strength. Intended Consequence is a collection of music dedicated to the choice and continuum of Iranian women’s fight for freedom in the day-to-day.

Despite the risks, women in Iran are choosing to go outside, run errands, and take their children to school without the mandatory hijab. They show their resilience by breaking the rules enforced upon them to wear clothes they don’t want, to behave in ways they don’t agree with, and to live lives they don’t believe in: all of which are values that are reflected in Intended Consequence. With this collection Apranik present an arsenal of music from some of the Iranian community’s most talented women musicians; musicians who have carved their path with passion and intention despite known consequences.

These were merely ideas, scribbles on paper, memories and moments. It was hard to define the context of one mans life into a body of focus, an idea in itself was not enough. It must be conceptual. This was not the first time that he’d attempted to build an accurate profile of a hero. He remembered the moments that they’d shared together long ago…

As he looked up from his seat, he watched the wanderers down on the beach, wading in the soft rippling waters. It all felt so long ago now. As if it had been another life. Perhaps that’s all it was…

This one is a little bit special. A spellbinding, emotional remix from Convextion as he reworks a track from ReKab into something delicate and remarkable. Tinged with poignant optimism this one has tears on the dancefloor written all over it.

Closely following the release of the last Borderland single, the focus returns on Transport, the last collaborative album by Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald. 

Long time friend and studio partner of Moritz von Oswald, Carl Craig provides a new take on “Transport”. Extending and stripping the original sequence to its bone, the illustrious Planet E president and illustrious Detroit proponent also summons a stepping drum sequence and a swaying array of moving delays. This 12“ edit is cut on the A-side.

The full version of Carl Craig’s remix clocks just above 20 minutes and is available digitally. Both are available to anyone who purchases the record, through the enclosed download card.

On the flip, DJ Deep & Roman Poncet rework Carl Craig’s remix, adding their signature grooves and myriad of tough drums, to full effect.

Tresor.298 will release on November 3rd on 12” vinyl and digital.
