Sonic Erection Presents 160+ - DJ HAYDN B2b DUNGEN 2024

FNS returns on Thursday, October 10, for the fourth takeover at Mutant Radio, featuring a special collaboration with our friends from the North. Oslo-based artists Anders Hajem, and Trym Søvdsnes will join forces with Bergen-based Patås and Kromoplastik, who will perform a live set. In memory of a long lost friend, Patås comes forth with a relic of a vinyl release in the name of that loved one, featuring one dreamy side in memoriam of the flesh, and one bouncy side for the spirit.

Title track starts it out in a lush and vibrant synthworld pairing up with a dubby techno groove, whole track foaming over with saudade, one part looking back in tears, the other going forward with a subtle smile.

ILU 2 MUCH takes a bit too much sweet emotions and conveys it into a restless standstill.

Flip the record over and you get two certified dancefloor scorchers in different trajectories. Bontelabo is a deep and trippy broken beat keepsake using only sampled guitar for its harmonic and melodic content.

Og så ? is a fresh take on a techno tool, constantly flipping and changing up the material around some good ol machine funk, a tune for all the serious clowns looking to get down.

Opening with an eerie cascade of drone-like textures, it conjures visions of frozen horizons and spectral fjords. The track builds slowly, drawing you into its glacial grip before erupting with pulse-quickening techno that barrel like stormy currents. As ‘Bontelabo’ reaches its zenith, it transforms into a mesmerising symphony of submarine signals, oscillating between moments of meditative stillness and full-throttle dancefloor energy.

Filip Storsveen returns to the Bassiani Podcast following a first stint as half of Omformer, this time as solo act Oprofessionell. The Oslo-based co-founder of rave entente Uteklubb (and constituent imprint UTE.REC) draws a wealth of inspiration from the aesthetic of 90s trance, a fully packaged set of sounds, images and for many of a generation, memories, that enshrine a moment in electronic music with particular resonance today. Cyclical revivals are just that, but there’s something especially felt in the speed-saturated sound that’s taken over not only his native Norway, but neighbouring nordic lands, an acknowledgement of its homegrown forest-rave culture, something parallel to the speed at which the world seems to be tipping into exponential overdrive. Storsveen and collaborators Mikkel Rev and Alpha Tracks are flying that flag high above the parapet. And as a means of escape, it delivers large on warm and fuzzy nostalgia, a method by which the creative spirits of the past are reborn today just when we need them most. From releases on his co-run label to a string of contagious live sets, Oprofessionell’s ambit is widening and the ethos of nordic rave gains ever more traction.
