Business Card

As a worker for someone living with a disability, I was forced at times to attend some non-denominational church services. I noted the conviction with which they believed, and I wondered if I was capable of such surrender. I also took as inspiration the statement made by Joe Cocker in the film version of Mad Dogs and Englishmen where he says something poignant about service to one's fellow human.

Conviction (Demo)

All of the pieces I have composed for the Whitehorse, Yukon production of David Mamet's 'Oleanna' explore the play's streak of Cartesian Dualism in the most obvious of ways---left hand versus right hand, except this one which is meant to conjure feelings of being assailed upon at every turn, of being clogged to the pores with unease.

I was writing the soundtrack for Matt Rankin's Hydro Levesque with Alek Rzeszowski. We had come up with this slow, repetitive broken chord riff. Later on in the night when they had left and I was playing on the piano I inverted the chord progression and then developed the new idea that had emerged.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised on the good music his lovin’ parents listened to, while coming of age in the 90s, Patrick’s music is at once familiar and unique. A ‘pianoman of a different sort,’ this rootsy rocker likes balancing light with darkness in most every song he writes, and he writes a lot of them. Catchy hooks keep you listening to dense lyrics which tell a story of an unsettled observer, searching the horizon for his dreams.
