IT'S NOT WEEKEND. YET.

For those who were asking what the mysterious mix that was put on after the DJs stopped playing outside at the Life and Death party in Art Basel, here it is. A mellow trip prepared by Greg from Thugfucker and presented here as a little thank you from all of us at Life and Death. 

It's been an amazing year and we're so very appreciative of all the support we've gotten as we've adventured forwards on this incredible musical trip together. We've got lots of exciting things planned for the year ahead (and beyond!) and we look forward to continuing together on this ride wherever it takes us.

Don't grow up, it's a trap

Over the last few years Douglas Greed live with his band has twisted heads at festivals over a few beers.Underway with a percussionist and singer he is constantly on the highways ravaging the gas stations of Europe – especially for the last few months. What has developed on the stage as a stout Twister session for adults is now presented as a music release.The title piece „Masked Up And Messed Up“ puts up a fat middle finger to everyone who lets their vanity slip out at the masked ball. The track is a bass-bellied house rocker along with vocals that wink an eye with a snot-nosed chorus added.With "5000 Ansi Lumen" the lights roll on and off with a flick. There isn't anything the neighbors can do by knocking on the door when the cross-trainers are carrying the load of the baseline!"The Rainfall" in the very first beat provides space for a a dried-out drum. In this dusty atmosphere, it builds up ever and ever more and takes flight to the foremost place. A groovy stop and go – dissolved into a supplication for rain and salvation...

Im letzten Jahr hat uns Douglas Greed mit seiner Band live den Kopf verdreht und die Festivals um‘s Bier betrogen.
Mit Percussionist und Sänger zieht er seit einigen Monaten über die Autobahnen und wütet in den Tankstellen Europas. Was sich auf der Bühne zu einer handfesten Twister Session für Erwachsene entwickelt hat, wird mit dieser Veröffentlichung nun auch als Musik wieder gespiegelt

Das Titelstück „Masked Up And Messed Up“ zeigt dabei den Stinkefinger an alle, die auf dem Maskenball der Eitelkeiten ausgerutscht sind. Der Track ist ein bassbäuchiger Houserocker mit augenzwinkernden Vocals und rotzigem Chorus. 

Bei „5000 Ansi Lumen“ wird rollend das Licht immer wieder an und aus geknipst. Da hilft kein nachbarliches Klopfen an der Tür, wenn der Crosstrainer unter der Last der Bassline ächzt!

„The Rainfall“ gibt in den ersten Takten einem trockenem Schlagzeug Platz. 
In dieser staubigen Atmosphäre bäumt es sich immer weiter auf und ergreift die Flucht nach vorn. Ein groovendes Stop and Go – aufgelöst von einer flehenden Bitte nach Regen und Erlösung...
