Lost Records have called upon newcomer PAWSA to showcase his talents on the label’s third release.

The title track “Pilot” delivers a dose of straight up jacking grooves with infectious old school drums, precise hi-hats and growling basslines. “Pilot” introduces PAWSA’s slick productions setting the stage perfectly for the second track on the EP “The Narcissist”.

Built on similar foundations to “Pilot”, “The Narcissist” kicks off with a more stripped back soundscape, playing, sinister vocals against a low slung bass line. 
The final track of the EP “Pretty Good Debbie” is a more laid back affair the swinging hi-hats pushing the track through to a mean build up and drop.

To round off the EP the icing on the cake is a remix of “Pretty Good Debbie” from Italian legends Supernova. After a blistering 2013, Supernova bring their dark & dubby twist to the table, with key features of the original in tact cementing them into a heavier groove whilst playing off atmospheric build ups and break downs.

Hot on the heels of his smash hit ‘Get Beasty’ EP released in February this year, Hot Creations favourite Patrick Topping is back with another standout release in the running to be his most successful yet! The ‘Boxed Off’ EP features three dance floor bombs, just as we’ve come to expect from talented youngster, all with that signature Patrick Topping sound yet each completely unique. This release is a concoction of killer bass lines, infectious vocals, perfect builds and drops with melodic synths and random FX throughout to constantly keep the senses stimulated on the dance floor..

BACKGROUND

o+ Patrick Topping impressed us all with his debut EP ‘Walk On’, which made it to no.5 in the Beatport Deep House chart, with his tracks being championed by Pete Tong on his legendary BBC Radio 1 show. His next EP ‘Any Amounts’ was one of the biggest releases of the year for Hot Creations with all tracks making it in the top 10 in the Tech House charts and staying there for weeks.

o+o More recently his ‘Get Beasty’ EP was released, receiving masses of support including regular plays on Radio 1 from the likes of Annie Mac and Pete Tong who crowned him as a ‘Future Star’ on his show. Title track ‘Get Beasty’ has also been holding the number 1 spot in the Beatport Tech House chart for 3 weeks! Making it Patrick’s most successful release to date.

o+o+ At 24 years old, Patrick first built a DJ career around playing at his own popular club night in Newcastle (Motion), where he booked and played alongside some of the biggest names in the business. Last year he made his Ibiza debut, at no less than DC10 for Paradise in July and continues to make his name heard on the international stage with plenty of gigs lined up.

o+o+o In popular demand, 2014 looks set to be a huge year for Patrick. Alongside releases on his home label Hot Creations he has a track coming out on the Defected Miami CD and remixes on the way for Circus Recordings and Resonance Records.

Patrick Topping, the UK’s esteemed DJ, producer, and engineer, has risen to become a globally renowned tastemaker in electronic music. With a career spanning over a decade, his record label and event series, Trick, has now surpassed 100 releases and hosted multiple festivals in Tenerife, Newcastle, and Budapest. Trick has also held residencies, events, or hosted stages at some of the world’s most prestigious clubs and venues, including DC10, Creamfields, The Warehouse Project, EDC Orlando, PICA Melbourne, Concourse Project Austin and many more. 2025 marks his third year as a resident at the legendary Ibiza club Hï, and also a refocus on the house, tech-house, and techno genres where he first made his name.

From humble beginnings, his first-ever DJ set was in a working men’s club in Newcastle in 2009, followed by years of promoting events, DJing locally, and studying music production. This led to his breakthrough moment in 2013 with a release on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax label and becoming a Paradise resident until 2019. He has been more or less constantly touring the world for 12 years now, playing huge festivals such as Tomorrowland, Glastonbury, Coachella, EDC Vegas, Awakenings, and Ultra—as well as many influential clubs along the way. In 2022, he won Best British DJ in DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards, adding to an impressive list of accolades including: Tech House DJ of the Year (2018), Track of the Season for “Forget” (2014), Newcomer DJ (2014) at the DJ Awards Ibiza, and DJ Mag’s Tune of the Year in 2014 for “Forget.”

As a recording artist, Patrick has now released over 100 original tracks and remixes, with “Be Sharp Say Nowt” (2017) going on to become certified silver in the UK in 2021. Known for pioneering new sounds within house, techno, and British dance music, he is one of the most versatile tastemaker DJs and producers in electronic music. His music is grounded in Chicago house and Detroit techno, yet always looking to innovate. Patrick has worked with pioneers of these genres, including multiple collaborations with Chicago’s Green Velvet—such as their 2014 smash “Voicemail,” “Mad Motion” (2024), “Shining,” and “When Is Now” (2015). He’s also done remix swaps with Chicago legend the late Paul Johnson and collaborated with Detroit icon Kevin Saunderson on “Frisk,” which featured on the official soundtrack to the 2022 film The Batman. Crossing over into pop, he has also remixed high-profile artists including The Streets, Sam Fender, Robyn, and Calvin Harris.

His ascension through the international DJ ranks has been matched by his shrewdness and passion for spotting and championing emerging talent. In 2019, he launched his influential label and event series, Trick, which has become one of the most popular underground dance music brands. Curated by Patrick himself, Trick has provided a platform for breakthrough acts such as Ewan McVicar, Ben Hemsley, Hannah Laing, and many more. Its loyal fanbase has become one of the most passionate communities in dance music, with fans proudly sporting the brand’s lightning bolt on merchandise—and even tattoos—at events across the UK and beyond.

With an exciting release schedule ahead and still driven by the same raw energy that first inspired him as a raver, Patrick Topping continues to live his dream while staying grounded.
