Bontan makes a return to Kerri Chandler’s MadTech Records this May with two energy fuelled productions on his ‘Rewind EP’, with fellow Brits Jhōnsson and Ralph Lawson also stepping in on remix duties. 

Since arriving on the scene in 2012, Bontan has seen an impressive rise that’s gained serious attention from big names such as Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Carl Cox. A long time friend and collaborator of Josh Butler, Bontan soared to atmospheric heights in 2013 as his remix of ‘Got A Feeling’ became the biggest selling remix of the year on Beatport. Fast forward three years and the house producer has shown no signs of stopping, with releases on Toolroom, Circus, Suara and Noir alongside appearances at some of the UK’s most iconic clubs and festivals, plus peak time Ibiza sets across Amnesia, Sankeys and Vista Club last summer. 

First up, ‘Rewind’ kicks things off with a selection of sharp shuffling hats, kicks and interjecting sirens amongst a bubbling and engaging groove. 

Next up, ’33 45’ is a powerful house cut that features Bontan’s signature percussion led, bass driven sound underneath a series of infectious vocal hooks before Jhōnsson adds his touch to the record, delivering an energy led remix that boasts a brooding vibe and thundering 4x4 kicks. 

Lastly, Ralph Lawson steps up to provide an impressive alternative to title track ‘Rewind’, unravelling the original and adding an evolving acid line and raw percussion to reveal a welcome, stripped back remix.

Bontan - 33 45

This tune was played in 2011 exclusively by Ben Sims, Dave Clarke, Luke Slater and me on various festivals and events around. Consider this track the comeback of peaktime techno music with machine funk, and nice synth leads, that one once knew from the good old Detroit and Chicago stuff.

This track will be released this year 2012 on Theory Recordings UK from Ben Sims.

For the next installment in the DC Ltd series, Drumcode present a three-track EP from the Spanish pairing of Psyk and Alberto Pascual; both increasingly familiar names on the circuit thanks to their work for Plus 8, Figure, AnalyticTrail and Sleeze. ‘Ascent’ leads off the EP with what is sure to prove to be a popular combination of upbeat old-school keys and resolute marching beats. ‘Descent’ switches things up, treading heavily through a melancholic soundscape of mechanical stabs and harmonic pads. Finally, ‘Permanent’ dishes up a solid rhythm track interspersed with distinct rising tones phasing in and out of the mix.

Regular collaborators Miguel Lobo and Andre Butano combine once again this July to deliver their ‘Vegan Dog’ EP on Roush, whilst rising talent James Dexter steps up on remix duties. Two names that have become regular fixtures across some of the industries most popular labels, including Material, Wow! and 8Bit, Spanish producers Miguel Lobo and Andre Butano have built up and amassed impressive back catalogues as both solo producers and production partners over recent years. Having recently collaborated to release material on Pirupa’s NONSTOP, here we see the duo combine once again to deliver three slick original productions. Opening proceedings, title track ‘Vegan Dog’ sees the duo go to work from the off, combining driving kicks with swirling synth leads and tripped out vocal samples, whilst ‘Ain’t Trippin’ lays the focus on percussive elements as crisp percussion patterns and delicate 303 lines intertwine with ease. ‘Pride’ signals the last of Lobo and Butano’s original cuts as skipping hats meet deeper, melodic textures, before Inermu boss and ever-impressing UK talent James Dexter steps up to provide his remix of ‘Vegan Dog’, accenting the originals infectious vocals through his signature blend of stripped back, groove-heavy rhythms and spacey synths.

For the 50th release on his Repopulate Mars imprint, Lee Foss has tapped label regular Mason Maynard to deliver a buzzing two-tracker titled 'The Feeling'. 

Ahead of the EP drop, Maynard has handed over the release's b-side, 'Boundaries' - a neck-snapping tune with a sharp low-end and shuffling percussion that mesh beautifully and result in some magnetic dancefloor action.

Patrick Topping, the UK’s esteemed DJ, producer, and engineer, has risen to become a globally renowned tastemaker in electronic music. With a career spanning over a decade, his record label and event series, Trick, has now surpassed 100 releases and hosted multiple festivals in Tenerife, Newcastle, and Budapest. Trick has also held residencies, events, or hosted stages at some of the world’s most prestigious clubs and venues, including DC10, Creamfields, The Warehouse Project, EDC Orlando, PICA Melbourne, Concourse Project Austin and many more. 2025 marks his third year as a resident at the legendary Ibiza club Hï, and also a refocus on the house, tech-house, and techno genres where he first made his name.

From humble beginnings, his first-ever DJ set was in a working men’s club in Newcastle in 2009, followed by years of promoting events, DJing locally, and studying music production. This led to his breakthrough moment in 2013 with a release on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax label and becoming a Paradise resident until 2019. He has been more or less constantly touring the world for 12 years now, playing huge festivals such as Tomorrowland, Glastonbury, Coachella, EDC Vegas, Awakenings, and Ultra—as well as many influential clubs along the way. In 2022, he won Best British DJ in DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards, adding to an impressive list of accolades including: Tech House DJ of the Year (2018), Track of the Season for “Forget” (2014), Newcomer DJ (2014) at the DJ Awards Ibiza, and DJ Mag’s Tune of the Year in 2014 for “Forget.”

As a recording artist, Patrick has now released over 100 original tracks and remixes, with “Be Sharp Say Nowt” (2017) going on to become certified silver in the UK in 2021. Known for pioneering new sounds within house, techno, and British dance music, he is one of the most versatile tastemaker DJs and producers in electronic music. His music is grounded in Chicago house and Detroit techno, yet always looking to innovate. Patrick has worked with pioneers of these genres, including multiple collaborations with Chicago’s Green Velvet—such as their 2014 smash “Voicemail,” “Mad Motion” (2024), “Shining,” and “When Is Now” (2015). He’s also done remix swaps with Chicago legend the late Paul Johnson and collaborated with Detroit icon Kevin Saunderson on “Frisk,” which featured on the official soundtrack to the 2022 film The Batman. Crossing over into pop, he has also remixed high-profile artists including The Streets, Sam Fender, Robyn, and Calvin Harris.

His ascension through the international DJ ranks has been matched by his shrewdness and passion for spotting and championing emerging talent. In 2019, he launched his influential label and event series, Trick, which has become one of the most popular underground dance music brands. Curated by Patrick himself, Trick has provided a platform for breakthrough acts such as Ewan McVicar, Ben Hemsley, Hannah Laing, and many more. Its loyal fanbase has become one of the most passionate communities in dance music, with fans proudly sporting the brand’s lightning bolt on merchandise—and even tattoos—at events across the UK and beyond.

With an exciting release schedule ahead and still driven by the same raw energy that first inspired him as a raver, Patrick Topping continues to live his dream while staying grounded. A hardworking, humble, and visionary artist, he remains a key contributor to club culture—whether behind the decks, in the studio, or uplifting the next generation of talent.
