Theo Nasa - Nostalgia 4 Life [Original Mix]

The @Mordisco_Official DJ and production duo return to Canadian label @My-Favorite-Robot-Records for a stellar new single with quality remixes from Sascha Funke and Javi Redondo.

Angel and Hugo hail from Grenada in the south of Spain and first came together in 2011. They craft mid-tempo house, disco and techno that makes a lasting impression thanks to its opulent bass sounds, synth melodies and hypnotic percussion. They also run and are residents at their own Mordisco party as well as playing around the rest of Europe and releasing on labels like My Favorite Robot’s MFR Red Series, Paper Recordings and Midnight Riot Records.

Superb opener ‘Nocta’  has dub disco flavours embellished with slick synth work and a real sense of cosmic serenity. It’s an elongated cut that really takes you on an adventure. Whilst, @SaschaFunkeOfficial the master of warm, deep sounds is in fine form as he flips it into a mellifluous and glowing, retro tinged disco house track with rich synth layers.

Summer's in the air, and with impeccable timing, @bawrut returns with his fourth EP for @ransom-note-records! From ‘Ciquita’ to ‘Rumba’ to ‘Three Sounds’, the wizard from Madrid has been providing DJs with off-kilter dance floor ammunition for years now.

Out 13th September on 12” and digital, the Pronto Arpeggio EP is arguably Bawrut’s biggest and best collection to date. It’s certainly his silliest, kicking things off with a frankly absurd title track which you can stream below. Clocking in at almost 11 minutes, ‘Pronto Arpeggio’ is a prog techno labyrinth of fakeouts, tempo switches, thwacking kickdrums, and huge synths like if Giorgio Moroder did the music for Tomorrow’s World. So yeah, not your average mid-set toilet break tool (although if you want to use it for that, we won’t judge you).

When it came to the remixes, we thought it was only right to enlist two of Bawrut’s biggest supporters. KiNK chisels ‘Pronto Arpeggio’ into a lean slab of high-velocity machine funk, while Ruf Dug teases out a gentler side of the slow-burn acid weapon ‘Shooreee’, resulting in a melodic track that feels tailor-made made for Mediterranean sunsets.

Bawrut absolutely ruled the festivals in 2018 with ‘More Cowbell’ and we’re hoping for more of the same this year as he continues to go from strength to strength. Forza!

AEON has been in musical rude health of late, with Speaking Minds, Amarcord, Lauer, Fort Romeau, Moscoman, Kincaid, Joris Beismans and label boss Alex Niggemann all bringing the heat. Now, continuing the high level of quality, up steps Israeli man of the moment Jenia Tarsol with two classy Italo influenced cuts on his 'Strom EP’.
The title track, ‘Strom' is a playful workout, featuring hypnotic low-end organs over a simple but irresistible groove which draws you in before a high-end organ motif adds a real element of light heartedness to the track with a melody that’s sure to get stuck in your head and bring a smile to all but the most chin stroking clientele.
‘Nosisi’ is a more serious affair but still retains Tarsol’s trademark drum programming and a dance floor friendly vibe. Hooky disco influenced Guitars are the order of the day here, used to subtle but devastating effect before whispered vocals add an etherial edge to the soundscape. Remix duties are fulfilled on this EP by Panthera Krause and Uriah Klapter. Krause leans yet more on disco flavours with his take on Nosisi, with a Moroder-like baseline locking the listener in early before a powerfully atmospheric breakdown delivers the ‘spine tingle’ moment. Klapter takes Strom down a more menacing path with industrial percussion elements dominating, before a driving baseline picks up the pace and the low- end organ makes its self known. 5am vibes a plenty on this moody groover.
All in all another stunning package from the in-form German label.
AEON take over Oosterbar in Amsterdam on October 19 for an ADE Special with Alex Niggemann, Fort Romeau, Jenia Tarsol, Speaking Minds and Kincaid.

Exclusive: Motel77 - Three On The Floor (Sascha Funke Remix)

Berliner Sascha Funke is back from a temporary vacation and his Genex EPs on Permanent Vacation to release a remix for Motel77's track Three On The Floor on Mexican label Duro. Funke's approach takes the listener back in time, to an episode of the 2000s when dark synth chords paired with an extraordinary groovey bass line, vocal snippets and a darkly twisted vibe used to be key on Steve Bugs' Poker Flat label. A sound that resembled the internationality of the Berlin club- and subculture, a sound that lashed the audience through PacMan-ish club levels, a sound that was as drippingly wet as the sweat off the wall, a sound that was as creepy as the Freaks could get, a sound that now is re-touched, re-designed and relived by Sascha Funke. Aside from the latter characteristics Funke keeps his work hypnotic by layering various bleepy tones creating this kind-of-cool track with a technoid vibe that you are dying to hear in a club played out.

Motel77's EP Savage will be released on Duro on August 28th, 2020.

We're proud to Premiere this track from local scene staples and friends Hilltown Disco. A fittingly harsh soundtrack to the bleak yet hopeful Dundonian Dystopia we find ourselves in.

Hilltown Disco welcomes St. Theodore, Larionov & Sheepray to the label in a Russian affair, proudly presenting ‘Black Earth Strikes Back’.

‘Black Earth Strikes Back’ is a twisted tale of two-halves – the story of unrest, a battle of the dark, cryptic underbelly looking to overthrow normality, fused together with the outer-core of electro.

Larionov and Sheepray stand for the A-side and take the reins with 3 tracks of warm bleeps, gentle electro beats with elements of sci-fi funk and aspects of italo.

St. Theodore supplies the mechanics for the B-side with three tracks filled with murky, rumbling analogue bass, with piercing acid-lines seeping through. Music that is geared for the dancefloors of the future.

Dan Curtin has been an ever present figure in electronic music, a producer whose music has been adored and collected over decades. His label, Metamorphic, is now back. A much loved imprint has been given a new lease of life and a new EP from Nico Lahs helps to set the scene. This one comes with high recommendations.
