Matteo Spedicati is back on Amam with his brand new ‘Smoking Mirrors’ EP to end the summer in beauty, including his two original tracks and three lovely remixes.

From Cagliari, Sardinia, Matteo Spedicati has always been embedded in music through playing guitar from a very young age. After checking out studios with his friends here and there, he managed to release some bombs that were supported by artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola. He then collaborated with many different producers and is now still evolving in the deep electronic music scene.

Kicking off is his deep and bassy ‘Jose Key’, defined by the deep synthesizer and harmonious bassline sounds throughout the track. This catchy yet trippy and long track can only drag you into its world of unceasing changing sounds. Madrid’s Alex Under’s take on this composition is slightly more rhythmic with a stronger use of kicks, hi-hats and claps… perfect for club DJs.

Next off is ‘Smoking Mirrors’, another one of Matteo’s bombs, which is definitely best to listen to at afterparties or early in the morning. Its ambient yet rhythmic grooves can switch a mood from tired to excited in literally seconds. Alexi Delano adds his deep oriental touch with some lovely vocals and middle-eastern style sounds to Matteo’s original. Javier Orduña’s version modifies Matteo’s original into a more minimalistic and high-pitched sounding tune, perfect to finish up this EP.

Now, the CB Sessions boss teams up with TOCO, the pairing of Tobi Neumann & Marco Unzip, on the opening number of his latest CB Sessions 5 EP. Its quite a snare for CBS because Neumann is making a much anticipated return to the studio and together with both Marco and Christian, has crafted the effervescent 'Bubbles & Strings,’ which we premiere exclusively today.

As its title suggests the bouncy opener is built around a frothing synth and piercing dramatic stringsm whilst rasping snares scatter and and main synth ripples throughout.

Amsterdam duo Paris Green, the unlikely partnership of DJ & producer Mitchel Kelly and jazz musician Thijs Bastiaans, make big impressions for their debut release on Crosstown sister label Rebellion with Poker Flat boss Steve Bug in for remix duty. 

The deep and brooding You Got To Try, discovered by Kölsch in his BBC Radio 1 Residency, was created during a jamming session with cohort David Stolk on vocals, singing about loosing sight of dreams due to other people’s expectations.

Ghost is a dancefloor track that’s builds around highly manipulated electric piano keys. Fused with jazz harmonies, exotic sounds and cross-rhythms, the whole track builds to a climax, taking the listener on a deep emotional trip.

German mainstay Steve Bug steps up to the mark with his enriching Sunrise Mix of You Got To Try. In equal measure he delivers a smooth and hypnotic Club Dub primed for the dancefloor. Recently Steve made a welcome return to his 10-year-dormant Traffic Signs alias, began a vinyl-only project with Clé entitled Apes Go Bananas and also a Wax Only series on Poker Flat. He has also released on the label arm of famed Paris club Rex and started an event series called PLAY. After so long in business, it's a testament to Steve's unwavering vision that he and Poker Flat remain at the cutting edge of dance music.

Sol Selectas is very excited to welcome back Zakir from Moscow, with 2 original songs titled  “Save The Children’” and “Naa Zambara”. Despite living 1000s of miles aways, Zakir's music brings us directly into an African safari, and he cites his love for the rich culture ,and various percussive rhythms as a major influence in these 2 production.

The title track “Save The Children’” is pure afro-house with heavy tribal drums, powerful chord stabs, and a solid dance floor groove. The exciting tension that builds and builds until the break down, is released when the children playfully sing along, and the vibrant energy awakens our spirit.

"Naa Zambara" takes us even deeper, with a dirty broken beat surrounded by lush warm bass, and an emotional vocal from the people of Gbaya, in the west of Central African Republic. The chants and bird noises in the background take us to the core of the jungle, while the soothing bass  guides our path.

David Mayer of Germany joins Sol Selectas for the first time, and delivers a stellar remix of “Save The Children”. He maintains an afro house groove adding even more percussion, and taking us to another planet, with a long arpeggio breakdown that is equally psychedelic and enchanting.

For the second remix, Sol Selectas welcomes Portuguese artist Switchdance, with an incredible interpretation of "Naa Zambara". He creates his own new rhythm by chopping up the African chants, adding emotional flutes, and classic 303 synth lines. The wild acid ride takes us to the other side and back again.

The artwork by Helia Jamali visualizes the music and its rich color palette,  and pays tribute to one of our recent lost children - the African Rhino -which is now sadly extinct. The title is a message for all of us to be mindful and considerate of every living creature on this planet.
