Andrea Cassino's association with Particles stretches back to an August 2011 remix of Alessando Diga. A further six reworkings have graced the Particles catalogue while original music in the shape of 2017's "Divine", 2020's "Losing Part of Me" and October 2021's "Asante" have graced Proton Music. Having previously made a name for himself as one half of the Cassino and Laben duo, the Italian born artist now returns to Particles with a typically powerful remix of "Salvage". Driving forwards with a dynamic 16th note bass pattern, white noise washes and clicking, popping percussion lay the foundation for the sumptuous melodic phrasing from Travis Jesse's original to flow across the near 9-minute interpretation. Familiar refrains continue to please while Cassino's trademark sonic layering and silky-smooth pads add elegance and class in bountiful measures.

Roku opens the fall season by presenting a new EP from Aman Anand & NuFects. Indian born, Singapore based artist Aman Anand has had much success across his twelve-year career. With a cutting-edge style, Aman has become beloved within the progressive music spectrum, recording standout projects for Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Sudbeat and WARPP, while also earning play and support from the genre's elite guard in Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Meanwhile, conceptualized in 2013, Colombian artists Alejo Cortes and Carlos Lopez aka NuFects decided to undertake a project full of energy, joy, colour and intrigue. They started producing progressive and organic house under the name NuFects, quickly earning recognition from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Cid Inc, along with very important local talents Dabeat, Gux Jimenez and Kamilo Sanclemente. A regular across the clubs of his homeland, Bahrein in Buenos Aires, Dorian Gray in Córdoba and Mendoza in Tucuman, Berni is no stranger to spellbinding sonic journeys behind the decks as well as magical production work in the studio.

Now making his Proportion debut, “Echoes of Lotus” is stunningly arranged into an “Intro Mix” that gently gathers pace after a stunning beatless opening that showcases an array of rippling arp, cadenced pluck and sweeping pad textures. A heavy beat enters the fray at the 2-minute mark, heralding a strong rhythmic framework for the free-flowing melodic textures that sit atop as hi-hats and shakers create subtle dancefloor intensity. Waxing and waning with ease, the track is a prescient reminder of Berni’s impressive talent.

Partner track, “Obsidian Bloom” opens with more traditional club-friendly characteristics as a four-to-the-floor kick creates a sturdy backdrop for ticking hi-hats and syncopated bassline to form a dark and dynamic foundation. A swirling lead adds sonic intrigue as it rises and falls with filtered intensity, sharing its space with a huge sweeping pad and white-noise effects. A stripped-back breakdown provides a moment for reflection as the third movement erupts via a filtered snare-roll, before dropping back into the powerful groove and a new immaculately placed melody that takes the track in an energising new direction in the second half.

Galestian’s first release on ICONYC has been received to high acclaim via a limited promo mail out a few months back - with big support from the likes of Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Guy Mantzur and many more. Galestian delivers a humdinger of a track titled 'Tell Me’ featuring the vocals of Mira J. The track kicks things off nicely with its melancholic moodiness shining through as we meander effortlessly through progressive inspired melodies, while the sultry chords and vocals sit wonderfully on top, adding an extra layer of depth.

Argentinian supremo Ezequiel Arias, famed for his intricate and refined productions is first up. His rework creates tension from the word go, as the atmospheric and driving vibe keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces that keeps building to culminate into a true prime time club monster. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a stunning glow, creating an air of sophistication. "Essential stuff!"

Next up is Francesco Sambero, who makes his ICONYC debut and known for his polished and refined sound, who keeps the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before its drum fills and general drive all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear, yet sounding totally fresh - This mystical touch up takes the energy levels up a notch, but increases the melancholy with stripped back and lucid elements at the same time, before the luscious groove graces the rework changing the vibe and creating a blanket of warmth that wraps around the effected groove, confirming that Alfonso really is a man at the top of his game.

'Cid Inc's Replug Records opens the 2019 summer season by welcoming Alex O'Rion to the label for his debut EP. As one of the Netherlands most highly regarded and sought after artists, the Nijkerk resident has found a home on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, where he has released three artist EPs since making his debut in January of 2018. Also a highly regarded DJ, Alex has programmed music for some of the world's most iconic clubs, namely Ministry Of Sound and Fabric. Now fresh off a Spring release for Nick Warren's Hope Recordings, the Dutch artist lands on Replug for his debut EP entitled 'Marathon'. 

Continuing what has been a remarkable year for Alex is the EP's opener and title selection 'Marathon'. Enticing from the start, it's perfectly sculpted beats are warm and powerful, anchoring what is a rippling, free flowing foundation. Crafted with precision and care, layers of hypnotic percussion are blanketed with swirling atmospherics, ghostly vocal edits and fragmented melodies. Intrigue peaks as the main break unfolds, with hazy harmonic concepts and granular design uniting for an exhilarating apex, before ushering in a groovy drop and emotive finale. 

The journey continues with the driving vibes of 'Blaze'. Immediately captivating, it's billowing bass tones and finely tuned percussion play off a robust rhythmic core, making for a devilish, hip swinging groove. It's hypnotic appeal grows subtly, as vocal fragments and luminous tones add an emotive slant to what is an already mystical storyboard. Almost like a sonic comet, it's fiery energy melts down into a break of muted beats and astral designs, before a collage of tripped out harmonics sets the stage for an otherworldly conclusion.

The release is capped off in fine fashion with the introspective moods of 'L'Arbre Des Contes'. Expertly joining the past to the future, Alex marries sophisticated melodic motifs with meditative rhythms and tranquil textures. It's a unique and highly engaging storyboard, perhaps one of the Dutch artist's most heartfelt to date in fact, a creation to cherish for special occasions and no doubt a highly memorable selection for your dance floor. Groovy and emotive in equal measure, it rounds out what is an astute collection of music from Alex O'Rion, making for yet another extraordinary addition to Replug's impeccable discography. '

The latest from Deersky’s Soundteller Records welcomes Andy King to the label for his debut single. The UK artist lays claim to a meticulous discography highlighted by releases on BCSA, Proton Music and Stripped Digital. After capping off a successful 2019 with a release on Solarstone’s Pure Progressive imprint, Andy now debuts on Soundteller with ‘Hemisphere’ alongside remixes from Eric Lune and Monojoke.

Always surfing the genre barriers with an effortless ease, Andy explores his pure progressive roots on ‘Hemisphere’. Beautifully designed, it’s tough galloping beats play off shimmering arps and spacey sweeps across the first act, before eventually melting down into a tranquil break. Creating tension with each successive loop, ghostly wails drift across the framework, as muted rhythms gently rumble below. Cosmic synths then steal air at opportune moments, washing away the atmosphere into a rush of beats and percussion for a powerful finale.

Fresh off a stunning remix for Stellar Fountain, it’s Eric Lune who provides the first interpretation of ‘Hemisphere’. The Australian artist remains one of the progressive scenes fasting rising stars and his uncanny knack for crafting feel good melodies continues here. Clocking in at nearly ten minutes in length, it’s soulful strums, playful musicality and buoyant groove are joyous to say the least. Not lost in this is are dynamic moments though, particularly during the main break. Complete with striking electronics and impassioned harmonics, it serves as the ideal centrepiece for this epic journey.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Hemisphere’ is label artist Monojoke. Returning for his 10th appearance, the Polish artist follows his hit ‘Neon Desert’ from September of last year with a superb remix here. Drawing on the sensibilities of the original the Cracow resident adds layer after layer of melodic colour. It’s this trademark sound which has made him such a huge favourite amongst progressive house fans, and with a truly exhilarating break it really does round the release out on a massive note. Big time stuff from Monojoke and a beautiful release from Deersky’s Soundteller Records. Highly recommended.

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds. My early years began listening to music from ABC, The Beatles, The Carpenters Dire Straits Eagles Fleetwood Mac Genesis Elton John Led Zeppelin Gilbert O'Sullivan Rod Stewart Supertramp Tangerine Dream Vangelis The Who and many more.
