Celebrating ten years of their legendary debut album ‘Empire’, Super8 & Tab present an exclusive collection of remixes on ‘Empire 10 pt. 2’.

Miika Eloranta and Janne Manserus, aka Super8 & Tab, have been part of our family for over 15 years. They began collaborating on music in 2005, and the magic was instant. The likes of ‘Black Is The New Yellow’, ‘Helsinki Scorchin’ and ‘Irufushi’ have stood the test of time.

They have remixed Above & Beyond’s Tranquility Base classic ‘Oceanic’, and most recently delivered a mix for the 20 Years of Anjunabeats compilation series. 

A sought-after remix from Anjunabeats Volume 15, Marsh takes on ‘Irufushi’. One of Anjunadeep’s brightest stars, he released his album ‘Lailonie’ on the label in November 2020 and played two sensational sets across Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy 450 celebration weekend in London. 

Rodg and SØNIN also appear on the package. Both producers have collaborated with Miika and Janne in the past. Rodg adds his own spin to ‘Slow To Learn’, while SØNIN takes on ‘Mercy’ feat. Jan Burton.

Nifra and Zack Evans’ remixes of ‘Eternal Sequence’ and ‘My Enemy’ complete the EP. Based in Slovakia, Nifra is a key name on Markus Schulz’s Coldharbour Recordings and hosts her own monthly radio show, ‘Rebel Radio’. 

U.S.-based trance DJ Zack Evans has made a name for himself with a consistent run of releases on Enhanced Music and Super8 & Tab’s own Scorchin’ Records.

Some semi-avantgarde ambient jazz stuff with the Xtreme Lead and Beat Garden rom cards for my Proteus 2000 rompler. Effects from Valhalla. Drums programmed from a kit called Mantis. There is no limit to what fun you can come up with using these old Romplers. The sound is crisp and clear, not over the top. Hit the arpeggio and add some dirty delay. Following on from his successful Philthy Chit alias, Perfecto Black A&R Phil introduces his new alias Phil Martyn. Sticking to his trademark sound, Chamber has a dark driving bassline, progressing towards trance influenced riffs at the breakdown. Exactly what we’ve come to expect from Phil.

Next up we have the stunning, beautiful deep trance mix from Forerunners. It’s truly a masterpiece. Real prog done at it’s best. Warm basslines complemented by beautiful riffs and arps. Fans of Guy J & Guy Mantzur will love this track.

Last but definitely not least is the Derek Howell & Peter Martin Remix. It’s an epic, heads down on the dance floor tune. A dark progressive techno tune with some incredible key changes, this one will destroy any dance floor!

All 3 tracks fit the Black ethos perfectly, true progressive at it’s best.

Phil Martyn - Chamber (Forerunners Remix Radio Edit)

One of my very close friends from Duke, Liam, came to San Francisco to visit his brother (my roommate) Ian. Liam is an extremely talented producer, and he approached me with a beautiful melody idea. After only two days of studio sessions, we wrote the entire track together based on his original idea. There is nothing I love more than collaborating with close friends—when your chemistry (as both friends and musicians) works, the music seems to write itself.

Liam is no stranger to the music industry; he worked as Dave Grutman’s personal assistant (as “Intern Luke”) in Miami for over a year. Expect to see a lot more material from him as a solo artist and a collaborator.

I debuted this record at Audio in San Francisco, hence the name of the track. I clearly remember the tremendous reaction on the dancefloor.

Released to much fanfare earlier in 2020, San Francisco’s Spencer Brown made a highly anticipated return to our label with his second mix album, ’Stream of Consciousness’. Featuring a selection of original material, written over the past five years and crafted into an all-encompassing singular journey, the mix album serves as an extensive insight into Spencer’s creative world, blurring his signature progressive sound with influences from deep house, trance and techno.

In the first of two companion EPs to the mix album, Spencer now presents five of the tracks that formed his ’Stream of Consciousness’ in an unmixed, full-length format. Among the highlights to emerge in this release are fan favourites ‘Lose You’ and ‘Foggy August’ (produced with Qrion), and his collaborations with Marsh (‘Pursuance’) and Ben Böhmer (’SF to Berlin’).

Spencer Brown’s ’Stream of Consciousness’ arrives as limited edition 2x12” vinyl on April 8, featuring fully unmixed and DJ-friendly versions of all twelve tracks from the album. The vinyl is available to pre-order now from the Anjuna Music Store.

'Arpology' is a moment of honest euphoria. The duo describe it as an 'arp orgy' as three layers of the iconic synth are rolled out and entwined in a majestic narrative fashion. A homage to the music of their roots and personal foundations, it's a timeless piece that joins the dots between trance and techno with class.
