Here we are, right on time for the full moon and this month in the sign of Capricorn bringing waves of energy that are mixed in feeling and in frequency. 
This Full Moon is stirring things until we are unable to see clearly ahead ~ inviting us to see things from a different vantage point.

While all Full Moons represent a point of completion and endings, this Full Moon brings some wildcard energy that may scatter us or create a feeling of unrest or unease. We may feel ourselves being guided to let go and surrender control, but this work may challenge us.

It is key to keep your heart and mind open to forgiveness and, welcome the grounding, earthy, and supportive qualities that the Capricorn frequencies can bring. Focus on things that build a sense of security and stability, and know like all things, this too shall pass.

For this month edition I have a special guest taking over with a one of a kind journey, soundtracking the feels of this Full Moon with an hour of his own productions, @kondukukonduku ~ 

@kondukukonduku is a intuitive and brilliant producer with a love for Turkish percussions and polyrhythms ~ which he inherited from his Ankara-born musician father and his Balkan folklore dancer mamma.

Kondi creates beautiful realms and for this one he makes us dive into a trippy wormhole of unreleased newer bits from himself with forthcoming tracks soon coming out on @spaziodisponibile and forthcoming music in collab with Aa Sudd as Konsudd on @amenthia-recordings

Patterns of Perception 98 is a perfect summation of DJ Leoni’s fascination and natural aptitude for rhythm. Exploring and interpreting a blend of both faster and half-speed selections, this set glides weightlessly between tempos and grooves; a radiant experience with both power and introspection. Part of the well-respected amenthia recordings crew, co-host of Home Radio she runs together with Garçon and a resident at Elysia ~ arguably one of the most loved clubs in Europe ~ Timnah is a well seasoned DJ with strong sensibility in navigating the the deeper, headier waters of techno and atmospheric bass 💫

Timnah’s introspective contribution is a perfectly balanced blend of deep, aqueous drones and murky downtempo carving out and holding space for the patiently emerging stormy rhythms taking the reins for most part in the second half of the mix. An encounter with a wayward dragonfly formed the memory upon which London’s Amphybian (fka Harry) stitches this exploration of flight and form. Reliving the scene in its microscopic splendor, we find ourselves wandering along the living, breathing riverbed, set free amidst the realm of the naiad. Our ears attuned, we hear a divine flutter, discern the whisper of a living dream.

For the first Deep Mind Music of 2023, I am delighted to welcome garçon, one of the brains behind the impeccable amenthia label, a dynamic and highly-inspiring DJ, whose sets I always find special. After many years of mutual online mix-appreciation, we finally got to hang out in person last year, and it’s been so lovely to connect with a fellow deep-feeling DJ.

I love the way garçon weaves together sounds, rhythms and harmonies into compelling patchworks which transport the listener into whole new worlds. He has a very subtle way of putting together tracks, delicately contrasting soundscapes to bring out new shapes and motifs, lightly morphing the visual landscape around us.

garçon's mix for Deep Mind Music is a space for nocturnal daydreaming, a gentle dive into the ocean of the mind, going ever inwards in a swirling haze of thoughts. A poignant expression of emotion that perfectly captures the wistful energy of January 🕯️

The first half of the mix slowly coalesces out of gossamer veils of sound, each new layer melting into the next. In the second half, we gradually descend into deeper pools of emotion, detaching from reality and getting lost in the waves. By the end, we’re adrift in an intimate cerebral realm, a space for pensive imagining and unbounded feeling. The closing track by Donnacha Castello is one of those pieces of music which is at once an expression of the deepest sorrow, and the purest joy. Thank you garçon for this very moving entry 🕊️🤍☁️

o: how have you been sleeping lately?
s: unpredictably. sometimes i sleep and wake up with the hazy memory of a glorious adventure, other days I wake with the horror of a nightmare clinging to my subconscious, and sometimes I can’t sleep at all...

o: are you a daydreamer or night swimmer?
s: always both ~ swimming in the daydreams, dreaming in the night swims.

o: where do you go to dream?
s: music is my portal to the dreamland. drone for the deepest cerebral dissolution into the realm of the imagination, something more energetic or colourful if I want to fly through the sky.

o: what was the last thing you heard that moved you?
s: the rustling leaves of trees in the wind, and birds calling to each other on a walk this morning.

o: have you ever cried on the dance floor?
s: yes, though not often, I’m more of “cry on the inside” dancer. 
though, the first time i remember actually crying on the dance floor was the first time i heard claro intelecto’s ‘peace of mind’ in 2013 i think… it was in my head for weeks afterwards https://youtu.be/m0-iideGM_k

o: where did you record this mix? 
s: in my living room, with my favourite cedar incense burning (i burn this every time I record a mix, a little ritual which always brings me to the right zone).

o: what drew you to the sounds?
s: you my bb <3 
this mix is my interpretation of all our beautiful sobcore listening sessions in your room after nights out, our shared love of soft emotional music, and how that translates into my sound. it’s sobcore x deep mind music, a journey for deep feelings, philosophical chats, cosy cuddles and imaginal drifting ~

o: what are you looking forward to the most this year?
s: i am most excited for the summer months to finally arrive, so I can once again frolic with friends in nature, listening to music outside 🤸🌲🌞
