Exclusive: Jon Gravy - Over Now

Sengiley Wax is back with its second V/A selection of music with a deeper touch. After its first release which dates back to March, the next chapter on the label includes music from artists such as THEOS, Hatt.d, Max Telaer, Manuold, Marc Brauner and Felix Nowak alias Jon Gravy. Latter kicks off the EP with his tune Over Now – a Deep House symphony as classy and classical as it can be. Deep chords paired with a jacking house groove and an almost soulful-seemingly vocal are Gravy's key-ingredients for this piece that surely gets any dancefloor started to move rhytmically in the beat of the music, which – despite its deepness – spreads a nostalgic yet positive vibe. The Vienna-based artist delivers another tremendous take, which comes in the (signature) style of his previous contributions and EPs on labels like forTunea or PETS Recordings.

Exclusive: Paolo Mosca - Different Places 

Hailing from the lagoon city of Venice it's Paolo Mosca who's up next on London label OPIA. The five tracker Age of Fusion indeed is a split EP from the Paolo and Forest ill Records co-founder Idris Bena, who contributes three original tracks wheras Mr. Mosca delivered two, namely Orion Trance and Different Places. The latter, the B1 on the EP, is spheric sound-wonder taking you – as the track title suggests – to places. Starting off with a bouncey yet moderate bass line the track's first lead-synth sequence sets and guides the listener through this soft sounds construct. Bleepy sounds ring in the second sequence of sounds, which comes in with another synth-melody, that cover the same pitch but is different in its tonal array. A second break emphasizes on the beforementioned bleepy sounds creating an atmosphere of having reached a place in outer space from which one is taken back to planet belt as soon as the familiar synth- and bass-line set in again and round off Paolo's journey to different places.

Paolo Mosca and Idris Bena's split EP Age of Fusion will be released on OPIA Records.

After contributing the third ride on Magic Carpet, Bristol-based producer Ramu delivers the next art:cast for the special series or in other words: Joe, Ramu's real name, comes up with an hour packed with energetic music skillfully switching back and forth between House, Breaks, Piano Acid, Rave and wobbling UK Bass-influenced tracks. What feels and seemingly is a potpourri of various styles in combination results in a brilliantly merged sound-aesthetic that culminates in an blissful hour that urges one to dance. Like a heavy swell Ramu understands when to musically ease up and then again takes up pace to create points of friction in his art:cast. And if one does not miss the dancefloor after dedicating yourself to Ramu's music you've never loved the floor enough.

Exclusive: Benjamin Fröhlich - Club Fantasy (Alex Kassian's Inferno Dub)


Planet Sundae co-founder, Love On The Rocks mainstay and one half of Opal Sunn, Alex Kassian is involved in many projects regarding electronic music. However, in the past two years the Berlin based artist has put his musical focus on his solo-career and provided us with EPs and remixes on Parimda's initially mentioned Love On The Rocks or Pincyh & Friends. Now Alex makes his debut on the Live At Robert Johnson label with a remix for Permanent Vacation boss Benjamin Fröhlich. Latter's EP Club Fantasy kicked off the label's 2021 and now, with a hiatus of almost half a year, gets the remix treament from artists such as Perel, DJ City and Leipzig duo Peter Invasion and Gregor Habicht. Known for elongated pads in combination with a slightly speeded up (percussive) House bass line Alex chose his signature traits to approach Benjamin Fröhlich's track and create his own club fantasy. Nevertheless, Club Fantasy contains intriguing piano sequences as well as Acid bleeps, whose simple task is it to add a darker more clubby touch to the warm chords, which surely spread a Balearic vibe all through the almost ten minute lasting journey.

Benjamin Fröhlich's EP Club Fantasy (Remixes) will be released on Live At Robert Johnson on August 13th, 2021.

Exclusive: DC Salas - The Weight Of Uncertainty (I:Cube Remix)

With EPs on Correspondant, Live At Robert Johnson or his own label Biologic Records, DC Salas has built up quite an impressive back-catalogue over the past two years and the Brussel-based artist does not seem to slow down. His latest four tracker, The Weight Of Uncertainty, will be released on long-standing British label Futureboogie and keeps up the prosperous path. Provided with three original tracks the EP also comes with a remix from legendary French producer Nicolas Chaix better known under his artist moniker I:Cube or as part versatile producer duo Château Flight, for the title track. Legenary because I:Cube has been responsible for one of the electronic music scene's most important tracks, namly Disco Cubism, and remixed Daft Punk's Around the World. Furthermore, the Parisian has worked with iconic artists such as Joakim, Prins Thomas, Tornado Wallace, Vermont – just to name a few – over his more than two decades lasting career and to pinpoint it: I:Cube has dedicated himself and his passion to music, and the latter has found a source to trigger emotions through his work. For his rework of DC Salas' The Weight Of Uncertainty Nicolas kept the bleepy chords from the original version but puts them into a different sound-surrounding as the pads that accompany the original elements create a rather ambient vibe.. However, if one expected an ambient track is proven wrong because the I:Cube remix is still dancefloor-oriented as it unfolds its hypnotical-touch with a repetitive vocal that seems to echo in the foggy-pads and lure the dancers and listeners at the same time into the track's, into I:Cube's cosmos.

Besides releasing music on the beforemenioned labels the Bristol-based artists put out a collaborative EP with in-demand producer Baby Rollén on Feelings Worldwide called Along the River and another UKG four tracker, Garry’s Theme, on Service Please. For Torture the Artist the humble artist, who does not see or perceives his music as something as futuristic as other artists do, exchanged his synths and other production gear to mix and compile the latest edition of the art:cast series. Furthermore, Oliver speaks about weirdness in music, SHAPES, his black pepper obsession, a line-up to die for and delivers some insights from his musical past as well as his favorite gear to wear at a gig.
