I've just learned about the death of a good friend and musician, Richard "Boz" Boraman. I few years ago, I found this on some four-track recordings I did with him in the late 80s.

Keep Ya Feet Still Geordie Hinny

This is attributed to "Blind Willie" Purvis, a musician who played in the pubs of Newcastle around the turn of the nineteenth century, though there is some dispute about that. I like to think that the melody was inspired by the peals of the church bells in the centre of Newcastle. According to songs histories of his life, he would add verses to promote local businesses. An early jingle-writer!

Pretty much the Geordie national anthem, so it had to be done! Having been an apprentice at the Armstrong's factory on Scotswood Road, and my mother is from Blaydon, the images in this song are very close to my heart!
