I call this my Leonard Cohen song -- dark and wry, but with complex instrumental interplay. For anyone to muster the courage to leave a bad relationship, they must accept the slander that comes their way. The must accept the myriad ways their ex may besmirch their name. It's better to just get it out of the way, lay down the impulse toward people pleasing and perfection, so that everyone can move on to the next phase of their lives.
