VIT, a producer hailing from Kharkiv, Ukraine, makes his debut on the ever-growing Mood Series with Spotting, the 138th release in the series. The opener, 'Spotting', has an active bassline that commands attention. It grooves effortlessly with crisp production, while the breezy, aquatic melodic elements conjure an island-like feel. The use of tribal percussion adds a primal edge while the chords here float like woodwind instruments, delivering a sense of calm and beauty that lingers throughout. 'Indistinctive' follows with a more taught and precise beat, setting the track's pulse with a rolling bassline. The busy chord work plays a crucial role in building the track’s energy, providing the main hook that balances out the intensity. The intricate interplay between the bass and chord progressions keeps the track moving, with a subtle tension that drives the track forward. 'Reflections' takes a darker turn, with deeper tones and a serious mood. The aggressive bite of the chords contrasts beautifully with the rolling bass, providing a sense of tension and release. Ajnkana returns for their sixth outing on the label with Tech Sequence, the 139th edition of the Mood Series — and it's a fierce, uncompromising dive into the tech-heavy side of dub techno. The release opens with 'Tech Sequence 1', making an immediate statement with aggressive, stomping beats and strong, demanding chords. There's no slow build; it launches straight into a dark, commanding energy that sets the tone. 'Tech Sequence 2' introduces a glimmer of melodic fragility — a faint, gentle chord weaving through a dense, urban-decay-drenched production. It’s forceful yet steeped in bleak, cinematic mystery, evoking images of a ruined cityscape at dusk. 'Tech Sequence 3' is where Ajnkana edges toward deep techno territory: sci-fi atmospheres meet crystalline, static-charged chords, evoking the immense power of Nikola Tesla’s Magnifying Transmitter — busy, serious and endlessly fascinating for tech heads. The slower-burning 'Tech Sequence 4' trudges with hypnotic strength, a lower tempo grind that feels engulfing and formidable, while 'Tech Sequence 5' closes the release on a swirling, electrified note. Chords pulse and whip through the mix like stored currents of energy, anchored by a steady, heart-like beat that’s both addictive and meditative. Throughout, Ajnkana achieves a heavy repetition and deliberately atonal palette that embodies the themes of urban decay and desolate travel the artist intended. The anonymity of the track names ("Tech Sequence 1," etc.) strips away any distractions, allowing the listener to be fully absorbed in the industrial soundscapes. Clearly inspired by the likes of Sounds & Sequences but forging their own path, Ajnkana crafts an intense world where techno’s colder, rawer instincts are celebrated without compromise. Tech Sequence is a powerful, hypnotic journey — another essential addition to the Mood Series.
