Third in a series of mixes that charts the evolution of trance, from it's roots in the early 90s to the world domination of the turn of the century. This one takes in the sound of 1993 as the trance sound really explodes across the dancefloors of Europe and start to spread round the world.  The German sound continues to dominate and the Goa sound begins to appear as trance goes harder and faster.

Sixth in a series of mixes that charts the evolution of trance, from it's roots in the early 90s to the world domination of the turn of the century. This one takes in the sound of 1995 as trance becomes truly international.  In the USA BT focuses on the progressive sound, Robert Miles in Italy creates a dreamy new take on trance with 'Children', and in the UK Simon Berry's Platipus Records pushes it's squelchy tech trance.  Paul Oakenfold continues to take the trance sound to mainstream dancefloors with his Perfecto Records label.

Seventh in a series of mixes that charts the evolution of trance, from it's roots in the early 90s to the world domination of the turn of the century. This one takes in the sound of 1996 as trance moves into a more progressive direction, led by Chris Cowie's Hook Recordings.  British artists such as John Digweed's Bedrock and Way Out West push this new take on the trance sound.  Ferry Corsten makes his first appearances as Moonman and Discodroids, hinting at the more melodic and uplifting sound that would dominate in coming years.

Andy K - The Beat Ranch Guest Mix

This mix was created for the /r/classicstrance comp, the prompt encouraging one or more rare tracks (hence the 'under the table') pre-2008 trance with no other restrictions. Freedom! I've been itching to make a classics prog set for a while anyway. This set leans in to that classic late 90s prog sound, although it reaches in to the EE era as well. Journey prog was always my favorite and likely always likely will be. Shame the genre is nearly non-existent in 2023. I wanted this mix to be dreamy and a bit more emotive than some of the mixes I've made lately. This mix really takes its time as well, so sit back for the ride. There are some footnotes to explain the rarity or composition path for some of the tracks below. 128-137bpm. Enjoy.

**** 2023 update to a remix/masher I made a few years back. Wanted to resurrect this one for a while. I would not usually dissect such pristine tracks, but I noticed a few years ago that Lost Tribe's 'Under the Red Sea' and Darey's infamous 'Wizards of the Sonic' Remix were made from the same ingredients. Had to cook up a new recipe with them. This is a longer version with a remaster.
***** 2023 update to an outro remix. This update has more elements of the red sea and extended.
****** I thought I could use the Solarstone Pure Intro as it is 2011 remix of a 1999 track, but alas, I missed a rules clarification for modern booties only. This hybrid was made to get around the rules.

MARK DYNAMIX – TRIPLE J MIX UP (2001)

Edition 3 of “Raiding The Archives” and a special Christmas present for you all this week. This 1 1/2 hour special, recorded for and broadcast across Australia on Triple J’s “Mix Up” program, was a snapshot of the solid syncopated techno beats from UK, Italy, Spain and Germany that filtered through into my sets at Gas nightclub in Sydney, Tech events across Australia (especially Perth & Brisbane) and the Big Day Out Boiler Room sets across Australia. This was also a similar set to the one I played at the Love Parade in Berlin. Mixed live to air from vinyl, it was recorded in Triple J’s Ultimo studios overlooking the city on a Saturday night. This mix may have appeared previously on the interwebs via an FM rip torrent, but a clean capture without any of the Triple J sound FX or promo drops has never been released. So here it is straight from the digital DAT recorded on the night, without any of those annoying sound FX or mic breaks.
