DJ Kor – A Journey Across Sounds and Continents

Joshua Millett, better known as DJ Kor, hails from Las Vegas, USA. Growing up in the entertainment capital of the world, his musical roots run deep. Kor began his DJ career in 2000, spinning records that brought vibrancy to the Las Vegas scene. His first two vinyl purchases—Dubversive’s "Police and Thieves" and Dive’s "Boogie"—set the stage for his journey into the world of sound.

Kor's life has taken him far beyond Vegas, with stints in Austin, Denver, South Korea, Japan, and now Germany. This global perspective has shaped his approach to music and storytelling through his craft.

A Unique Approach to Music
Kor’s production style stands apart in the world of speed garage. By experimenting with samples, instruments, and layered drums, he crafts tracks that are both innovative and grounded in the genre’s core elements. For him, the creative process is fluid—unplanned and dynamic—allowing for surprises and an emotional depth that transcends formulaic approaches.

As a DJ, Kor curates sets designed to take listeners on a rollercoaster of emotions. He blends dark, happy, funky, and atmospheric sounds, ensuring an experience that’s more than just a lineup of bangers. He also champions up-and-coming producers, aiming to pay forward the support he received early in his career from industry stalwarts like Nev Wright, Dean Lyones, Huxley, and Richard Dolby.

Future Plans
Having recently rediscovered his passion for creating speed garage, Kor is reigniting his creative spark and focusing solely on the love of the craft. His next big project is relaunching Ultra Bass Records in 2025, with a dedicated mission to spotlight speed garage music and its evolution.

Influences and Inspirations
Kor’s influences are as eclectic as his journey. From his brother Abraham Millett, a bassist for Third Eye Blind, to Kris Vanderheyden (writer of CJ Bolland’s "Sugar Is Sweeter"), his creative heroes span genres and eras. Close friends like David Houle (FX Logik), and early DJ mentors like Jayrod, Jason Splatt, and DJ Ira, have all left their mark on his sound.

The Soundtrack of a Lifetime
When it comes to favorite tracks, Tyrome’s "Electric Voodoo" holds a special place. First heard in 1999 in Las Vegas, Kor spent four years searching for this elusive masterpiece—a testament to his passion for the genre and his dedication to the music that moves him.

From spinning records on belt-driven turntables in Vegas to crafting immersive DJ sets in Germany, DJ Kor’s career is a testament to the power of music to cross borders, defy expectations, and inspire connection.
