For this next iteration of the Rusted Rhythms series, we tapped into the vivacious talents of Templo. Dripping with low-end goodness, the entire aural experience is comprised almost entirely of unreleased music. Sprawling across varying tempos and stylistic influences, the flow from track to track within the mix is without fanfare; no hard stops, no fancy parlor tricks. Sharp musical turnarounds and in-the-pocket transitions swing from reggae-inspired cuts to voluminous basslines. A careful balance between daylight jams and midnight neckbreakers keeps the sonic journey from becoming stagnant. Ultimately, the mix allows some insight into the varying influences that Templo receives his eclectic palette from.

There’s a universal, elemental feeling to Hip-Hop. Kick and snare thump the same speed as your footfall. The bass is swinging and its got you swinging, too. You’re stomping down broadway ten feet tall because you’ve got the fattest beat in your headphones (or boombox). You’ve got the juice.

Picture that feeling, but instead of broadway you’re high-stepping through candlelit caverns in the Himalayas, aligned as hell, scoping out monks who may or may not be trying to get over on you. In the back corner of the cave Gaddy is spinning fat breaks, old vinyl and Houston Texas hip-hop. Heavy bass and dangling synth chords start rocking the cave, with fresh samples ringing out.
