This is a song for my mom. Her name is Anne, with an "E". Make sure you remember the "E" though. If you know an Anne you'll get why its important.
I love her but she can't seem to let go of her irrational fear that she still needs to take care of me, even though I've shown her, over and over that I got this. Granted, I do fail from time to time, because I've got a few things going on that are a relentless drain on me. My friends call me "The Tank" for a reason. Lately I haven't been able to function as a person who gives from a healthy place, because, after 46 years of giving it all away, I'm at a place where I need to start loving myself.
As I started to play this song, I realized that it was about the spaces in between the notes, where the strings were resonating from being struck from the hammers of the piano. So I let the piano breathe, on its own, with minimal input from me. My role in this song was to facilitate the resonance, while trying not to control it or meddle in what it does best; resonate! 
Acccordian to my friend Ari Neufeld, (dammit Ari! Why do you have so many important gems that you've given me?) a piano has a lot of moving parts, and this 100 year old beauty still works perfectly and the strings resonate unlike any piano I've ever heard. I've opened up 2 out of the 3 panels to let it breathe. And o man does it breathe deeply.

Hey, can you believe that I don't even know how to play the piano? All the songs are 100% spontaneous and nothing is written beforehand, other than occasionally discovering a cool sounding chord or two and then using them as the first notes of the song. I don't read music and took 2 years of piano lessons when I was 10. I'm 46 now. I just learned scales during the lessons as a kid and played the silly lesson book songs and HATED it LOL. 
In April of 2019 I weaned myself off of a brutal soul-crushing medication that was destroyin my life. I took it for 35 years to help control tics resulting from Tourettes Syndrome. It was an medication you're only supposed to take short term for a couple of weeks. It was supposed to be used to calm patients down on Psychiatric Wards but they discovered it could help people with tics as well. It was like trying to kill a fly with a nuke. Once it was out of my system, my brain woke up and 35 years of pent up creativity is coming out now.
