BRLN has been going from strength to strength in Brisbane and this last one was just incredible. It's an honour to be part of this event and for BRLN_005 I enjoyed pushing the tempos up a bit higher towards 140bpm, and getting straight in to some heavy and dark techno that sits somewhere between peak time and hard techno vibes. Playing to such a wild and up for it crowd is always a blast. Keen for the next one already 🔥⛓️

Paul Abad - DJ Set - BRLN 005

This is a recording of my set from Friday March 15th - I had the opportunity of playing In The Hanging Garden for a unique four hour set. 

Strap yourself in for a journey, as it moves through different genres and energies. The first 50 minutes are Lounge and Electronica, basically setting the vibe while people are still eating.

From there things gradually ramp up, moving through Minimal / Deep Tech, House, Tech House and finishing up with some Techno. The last three hours of this mix are when people were up and dancing, and when I felt like the room was really engaging with the music.

It was awesome to see a bunch of familiar faces in the crowd for this set. It is so much more fun with friends dancing away, and I really appreciate the support!

The raw live recording of our set from Esoteric Festival 2020. We were greeted by a beautiful sunset and our best friends along with the beautiful souls that made this Esoteric experience an amazing one. A massive thank you to Bushtechno, especially Michael Muska for holding a space that truly represents who we are as a culture. And a special mention to Chia Jen art for yet another beautiful display of ultimate doof art, the bushtechno stage was such a sight to behold. 

Choons are a pure representation of evening psychedelic, proggy chug. Music that we feel resonates best with the Australian bush.

Resident of S.E.QLD, Australia, Paul Abad has been part of the electronic music scene for the past 20 years.In that time, he has explored a wide range of sounds and influences, but these days it's the many flavours of techno grooves at the heart of Paul's musical activities.

Paul takes a unique and sculptural approach to the art of DJing, with a multi channel ableton setup incorporating tracks, loops and effects, brought together on the model one mixer. Flow, groove, space, tension and progression are key themes in Paul's sets, but of primary importance is the mix - recombining and layering, responding to an audience, and being present in the moment.

With a sonic range covering everything from warehouse/acid, to progressive and melodic techno, and deeper k-house and voodoo tech- house grooves, Paul’s sets are deeply steeped in the soul of techno, and inspired by the Australian outdoor festival dance music culture.

Paul is also the driving force behind S.E.QLD's Earth Frequency Festival and has been a label dj for Open Records since 2007.
