Paula Cazenave is one of Spain’s leading ladies, jet setting around the world and gracing line-ups with the likes of Carl Cox, Ben Sims, Dave Clarke, Chris Liebing, Jeff Mills, The Advent and Oscar Mulero, that is just simply scratching the surface.

Paula together with the iconic Gayle San, who has released on her own ‘GSR’ to Phobiq, Naked Lunch and Cari Lekebusch’s H-Productions, have launched their new project and collaboration known as Combine Audio.

The launch release begins with a back to back original track selection that sums up the ethos of the label and what is expected to come in the near future with following releases.

The track we selected for this DT:Premiere is from Paula called “Crickets On Crack” that begins with one of the chunkiest beats this side of the hemisphere. Pure groove fuel for any DJ looking to light up faces on the dancefloor, the edgy, acid-licked lead synths lash the track into shape and seal the deal as this monster grows larger and larger with every listen.

”Crystals EP" is the freshest output by the Berlin-based Sweden, including two fast- paced techno tracks intended for massive dancefloor devastation.
Huge tom movement, biting high-pitched and dark, spacey pads. Implacable percussion cadences and exquisitely synthesized sound effects build a massive atmosphere echoing a walk in the woods on a dark night. 
This is "Crystal Key", the first cut of the reference.

The label's latest release 'Crazy Trip' EP features original music from the label boss herself, and remixes from iconic UK techno artist Ben Sims.

Combine Audio has been active in its Barcelona base for just over and year and featured artists like Gayle San, [ Wex 10 ], and Patrik Skoog amongst others.

Label boss Paula Cazenave has put together the most mouthwatering EP yet, featuring a reworked version and new original track along with two remixes from a particular London based legend.

Showing up with back to back remixes, Ben Sims lights this package up with more heat and blistering peak time madness. Known for his relentless mixing and ‘Run it Red’ show on NTS Radio, he also heads up Theory Recordings as well as releasing on pinnacle imprints like Soma, Tresor, Token, CLR and Drumcode. If that’s not enough of a CV, Ben has been touring and releasing in collaboration with Truncate under the “Assailants” moniker, which should be very much on your radar.

The rework we selected for this DT:Premiere is of the title track “Crazy Trip” as it wastes no time in using gritty synth notes with a complimenting sub bass to add a little funk to the ripping beat. Powerful and raw, this has an old school, no nonsense approach that’s made to jack the dance floor!

New on Paula Cazenave’s label Combine Audio is an EP from Ken Ishii, who amongst his many achievements is famed for pioneering techno in Japan and the southern hemisphere.

Also on the EP is a remix from label boss Paula Cazenave who is a regular DJ at many clubs around Spain plus other parts of Europe, and her productions have also been turning heads following releases on labels ranging from Different is Different to Rotterdam based Patterns.

Paula Cazenave remixes “Diode” uses a tougher kick drum sample that solidifies a platform for her punchy version. Focusing on the groove of the original's synth line, she also adds a heavy clap and rhythmical atmospherics into her hypnotic rework full of brooding menace.

Barcelona’s Combine Audio has already featured artists such as Ben Sims, Ken Ishii, Gayle San, [ Wex 10 ], and Patrik Skoog amongst others.

Paula Cazenave heads up the label and featuring alongside a remix this time is highly respected Japanese pioneer DJ Shufflemaster known for releasing on Tresor, Ben Sims’ Theory Recordings, Ellen Allien’s BPitch Control, and Molecular Recordings for example.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the (Definicion Mix) of “Esplendor” that has been reworked with a slightly more club focused beat and retaining a main slice of rolling modular tones. Hypnotic and full of life, this extra tweak is a potent offering of more quality production.

If we talk about Paula Cazenave, it´s about Techno and a long career.
Born in San Sebastian-Donostia (North of Spain) and settled in Barcelona since 2003, Paula has been walking her case since the late 90s through the best venues and festivals in Spain, Europe and South America, highlighting her presence in such important events as Awakenings, DGTL, Brunch in the Park, Dreambeach, Aquasella ...

Her beginnings were spent combining her studies of audiovisual production and sound technician with events on weekends in venues throughout the Basque Country. When she moved to Barcelona, she started DJing and organizing parties with local collectives in venues such as La Cova, making an important place for herself on the Barcelona scene until today.

As an artist, we find ourselves in front of a real DJ, without frills. Her sessions are built in the purest old school style: Technique, fast and smart mixes, versatility and eclecticism. She is characterized by hooking the listener on a journey without rest that can encompass everything from groove to dark and raw sounds, always with that unmistakable signature. We cannot classify Paula in a specific Techno sub-style, but we can say that we are talking, most of the time, of forcefulness. From her beginnings, she was influenced from artists as diverse as James Ruskin, The Advent, Ben Sims, Surgeon or Slam, to name a few. We are talking about an artist in constant evolution who has known how to adapt to the times, always faithful to Techno.

In her role as a producer, we go back to the middle of 2000, when she began to edit Techno productions on vinyl in the international market. Her works during the past decades alone and with A. Professor with other akas such as Daisychain and Secret Labz paid off, thus achieving a more important place on the international scene with European tours and major festivals. It is also worth mentioning the vinyl references that came out in Patterns records and on her first label Grind Records, whose first release had a great success in 2009 until it sold out, receiving the support of many influential DJs on the scene. We can find his productions in a large number of European labels till today.

Since 2017, she has been immersed in the management of her label Combine Audio, where she has released works by recognized Techno artists such as Ben Sims, Ken Ishii, DJ Shufflemaster, Patrik Skoog, Gayle San ... along with more established and emerging artists. Combine Audio has carved a niche for itself on the Spanish techno label scene and has received the support of many artists worldwide. As she well says "This label is not for me, it´s for everyone" and with it she intends to support many emerging artists to keep the scene alive and make it grow.
