Paula Maya is a keyboardist, bi-lingual singer and songwriter. Her music is a fusion of Brazilian, jazz, world and pop.

Paula was born in Rio de Janeiro, where she attended the Federal Music University to study classical piano, and graduated from the Brazilian Music Conservatory in music theory. Paula was also a student of the great Luizinho Eça, who used to call her, affectionately, 'geniozinho' (petite genius). Prior to leading her own groups, Paula performed with dozens of bands in a variety of music styles, including the legendary jazz/swing/MPB  Orquestra Tabajara in Brazil, and reggae artist Alric Forbes and salsa/Latin jazz Steve Guasch Y Su Orquesta Nueva Era in Seattle, Paula's home before Austin, TX.

Paula Maya's music background has greatly helped shape her own songwriting. 'Music is the best way I find to express love. I'm inspired by humanity, nature and the divine.'
