Just as I was about to rush out for an appointment a few weeks ago I stopped by the piano and composed just a few bars.  I didn't really have the time but I can rarely resist the pull of my piano and thought "oh well...maybe just a few minutes!"  I knew that when I returned home and over the  weeks to follow, these few bars would grow into my next piece of music.  While I was at my appointment I thought to myself that these little musical "doodles" are like seeds.  Every time I sit at the piano a seed is sown (which is why I hit "record" every time)!  Some seeds (or "kernels") grow and develop, others do not even germinate.  

All seeds benefit from being cared for and nurtured and I am lucky enough to have someone special in my life who is rather an expert in all things musical.  Thank you Chris Adams for mentoring me and challenging me to come out of my comfort zone and try new things.

A symphonic piece of music with many colours, dynamics and rhythm. I used SWAM Audiomodelling string sections, CSS, Tec breath controller, Altiverb

Das Stück ist noch etwas anspruchsvoller und effektlastiger, wie ich finde - was den Wert der Vorwerke nicht schmälern soll.

As I age I've found myself loving nature more and love being in the outdoors. This track has been inspired by my love of those simple, free things. It's a calming, melodic track featuring the warmth and resonance of the cor anglais (English horn), supported by a gentle string and woodwind orchestration

Tranquillity

This is a short track I did for the Composer Club challenge. The premise is listed below, but when I look at the picture I just see an astronaut enjoying the view! So I went for a panoramic and majestic approach.

"My Ship crash landed on this god forsaken rock over a week ago, there are no signs of life... Am I, the only soul on this planet?"

After crash landing on an unknown Planet, one man emerges from the wreckage and stumbles to his feet with minor injuries. After a week of survival, he realises he may be alone on a desolate, although there is possibility he is not...

In this situation, would you become the explorer, searching the undiscovered sands of time, surviving alone but in hope of finding something... Maybe a civilization, or the ruins of ancient beings?

Or would you panic, living in fear of the unknown, not knowing if there are others out there watching you in the dark, or fearing that you are literally the only soul alive on a ginormous alien planet...

There are many emotions and feelings that being alone on an alien planet could inspire. The challenge is to compose a song for this situation, and how you would survive. Courage. Fear. Embrace. The choice is yours...."
