The song, We Will Meet Again, was written by the great jazz pianist Bill Evans in 1979. The trumpet part is more or less improvised primarily around the improvised piano arrangement.

We Will Meet Again was Evans's last studio recording. Dedicated to his brother Harry who died prematurely. Piano/bass arrangement and performance by Australian jazz pianist Doug McKenzie. An amazing arrangement!

Following the somber opening of the Pandemic Suite, this hymn of hope begins to rise. Echoing Mendelssohn’s chorale from Elijah— "Wer bis an das Ende beharrt", engl: “He that shall endure to the end”— the brass instruments proclaim a steadfast call to persevere through the weight of troubled times.

This composition draws inspiration from those who've traveled "the long road back"—whether to find their way home, reclaim their health, or revive a cherished dream. The composition begins slowly and tentatively, mirroring the first steps of such a journey. Around the 2:20 mark, the music gains momentum, signaling that the end of the long road is near. The piece ultimately resolves on a major chord, symbolizing a successful and hopeful return.
