After a busy 2024 that saw Christou make his Space Miami debut for Jones’ Paradise event and host his own label showcase at Hï Ibiza, he’s back in the studio with A-Trak, the New York-based luminary whose 25-year legacy includes Coachella performances, BBC Radio 1 Essential mixes, and global anthems as Duck Sauce alongside Arman Van Helden.

The Temple Dub then takes over with Owens’ vocals at the forefront, set against a nimble bassline, snappy percussion, and sizzling synths.

Hot Creations continue to bring the heat as they deliver the next release from German wizard Basti Grub. The emotive Darling also features a remix from FUSE favourite Rich NxT.

Darling is powerful with a raw groove and a dark yet almost ethereal synth section and a vocal hook that will play repeatedly in your head. Rich NxT adds his unmistakable sound to the track, distorting the vocal and adding a full-power, after-hours bounce to the bass complete with a woozy, synth-led break-down.

With over a decade in the business, Basti Grub has forged a solid reputation for himself with his output. Unafraid of experimentation, he expertly fuses together traditional instruments with modular synths. His releases have been signed to Mobilee, This And That and Bouq. Records, and in 2018 he collaborated with Timo Maas and Eric Volta on the masterful We Were Riding High. Grub shows no sign of slowing down in 2019 as he puts the finishing touches to his fourth studio album. One of the key figures and original residents of London party FUSE, Rich NxT’s releases have been supported by the likes of tINI, Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers. He also heads up his own imprint, NxT Records.

Time is wrapping off and we are turning some rounds in the circle, which crosses electronic epi- centric countries like Greece, Italy and Canada. We like these intimate mini compilations of three skilled artists who do that kind of signature sound for ‚as usual.music’. It’s the No. 017 in between of a series in which we continue dancing to the music of Duke, Manuel De Lorenzi and Poor Pay Rich. Phase Two is now.

Duke impressed us with some deeply moving tunes on current faved labels, so we are glad to have him on board here. The „Baffled Flow“ is an extraordinarily shakin’ ride with gently stacked rhythmics and tight sounds. Waiting for the perfect moment to expand the subtle bassline into a super-subtly- topped bass shifter. Exactly what we need!

Italian big boy Manuel De Lorenzi suspects the effect of „Morning’s Drugs“ and infects to join. An ultimate drive of low frequencies, so-called bass, gives us the thrill of never stopping. A fine setup of percussive elements and flourising cuts are spicing it up for a proper tribe in the days after.

Vancouver-based Poor Pay Rich is on his way to become a long runner in the current year. His unique and powerful way of producing tracks is imposing and definitely conceals an outstanding functionality on the floors. „Gates To Estates“ is focused on a reduced amount of elements with the most effective vibe. Attached with a hilarious and mind-sticking synth-cut, our drift around the globe finds an harmonic and agile ending.

Our Italian family grows on the quest for the perfect groove, as Ricky Leo from Milan came across. The Ibiza-based DJ and producer provides us the vibe from the island within three tracks on the „Eivissenc EP“. By appearances on labels like Get Physical, Lapsus, Play Groove, Whoyostro, as well as collaborations e.g. with his buddy Luca Doobie and several residencies in the Italian underground clubscene, he gained experience for a relentless and powerful groovin’ floor.

All three tunes approach a similar vibe, so these ones are standing for themself without any remix and catching the warm smell of Eivissa with sand in the toes, wind in the hair and sweat on the skin. „Pendular“ aims at the middle of the floor with a subconsciously hypnotizing tense. Merging rhythmics and melting elements create a restless mood, topped by a sizzling whisper.

„Es Muntar“ follows up as a decently composed work. Slightly more dramatic, it contains far-verbed vocals, a little dose of glitch placed in the drum pattern, which makes it subtly driven. The „Eivissenc“ (Catalan local language) track spreads with soft cracklings, windy halls and snappy voice cuts, layered on a great rollin’ percussion arrangement - reflecting an authentic island feeling.

‘Like You Should’ takes the shape of a late-night mood setter. A robust adaptation of ‘The Things You Know’ with a constant, blistering low end and raw harmonics offer a gritty alternative to an already definitive piece of music. With hints of UK Tech character dotted throughout, the increasingly-popular duo rounds off the release nicely.
