Collection Disques Durs welcomes a fresh signing in the name of @VictorBongiovanni . A Montreal arts & nightlife staple and part of the RBMA-schooled band @paradisartificiel with Ouri and Odile Myrtil, Victor has been active in the scene since 2010 and is now ripe for releasing music under his own name, making the statement that he’s in it for the long run. 

Featuring his own guitar and vocals, the EP is rooted in electronic music yet takes alternative and experimental cues. The title ‘Dissociaterr’ signifies a trip between dreams and reality, memories and fantasies, a juxtaposition of physical and mental experience. Opener ‘No God’ sets the tone with washes of textural synths & drums, followed by the apocalyptic ‘Eye of the Storm’ which winds its way through serenity and chaos. The vaporous lead single ‘Gasoline’  foreshadows brighter times, growth and transformation. As the haze disappears, the cinematic ‘Cloud 99’ rounds off the EP.

‘Suntub’ is the second full length album from ML Buch, a double record of 15 pieces by the Danish composer and producer, entering further into the realm of electric guitars and layered vocals along with exploring new instrumental expressions.

With an offset in open tunings on a 7-string Stratocaster, slide and fretless tablet guitars and deep-sampled virtual guitars, the album draws up narratives and locations in a distant time. Props like puddles, well buckets, bone barrels and flesh rags live in these scenes, suspended in air, drifting about, climbing stairs and ladders, all given life through guitar sensibilities and visceral vocals.

The release notes for their recent collaborative album, A.R.T, perhaps unfairly characterises Tobias Freund and Max Loderbauer's foray into dark ambient as "genre tourism." The heady experimentalism of concept-driven recorded work from the duo's inception in the early 2000s has seen them tackle reductionist technoid minimalism for Cadenza, craft an album of pieces composed solely with drum machines, and produce the longplayer NSI. Plays Non Standards which featured minimalist drones at the intersection of modern acoustic piano (played by Loderbauer) and electronic abstraction (as manipulated by Freund). Their acclaimed, yet infrequent, live sets have regularly skewed towards the organic and tonal qualities of the ambient aesthetic, functioning as a counterweight to the defined parameters of their celebrated output for Sähkö Recordings and Freund's own Non Standard Productions. The relative rarity of their live performances can be attributed to the sheer amount of analog gear required to realise the specificity of their sound design, as witnessed in this live capture: a fascinating  mind trip through layers of deep submersion, simmering otherworldly eeriness and industrial pulses.
