Hello there! This is the follow up to the other 'Gothic' song, 'Gothic in mind.' Recorded just after that one.

Gothic in nature.

Little, or no 'Warm up' as per usual. (I hadn't been on my keyboard for a week or so, either!). I was playing around with a Gary Numan style string sound, I wanted to do a kind of 'Orchestral synthesiser' version of one of my songs, 'Daylight...'
I played out some ideas, recorded it too, but I don't know. It didn't quite work out, the sound has a long overall feel about it, not quite what I was looking for, not for the idea that I had in mind.
Well, I was about to put away my little midi keyboard for another evening, when I decided to give it another go, but this time using a Piano sound. This is it.

I still have one or two problems with my keyboard, though. It has a lovely velocity to it, but only if you know how to hit the keys through it. One or two keys can 'Stick' and maybe there's a problem with the overall contact of the keyboard bed, too. It often doesn't quite come off as you would like, as you can tell on this track. It is quite a demanding little keyboard, is my Goldstar GMK-49!
There might also be a problem with the socket round the back, too. I don't know. It's old, like it's owner!

The keyboard has a very different 'Feel' to it, quite difficult for myself to play, especially when I haven't been on it for a while! But, I don't know, it has some lovely velocity and power about it, as I say. The sounds just seem to come alive on it!

On listening to this again, there's obviously a little bit of 'The Lady on the hill.' in there too. I knew it at the time of playing it. This is actually 'Daylight dream sequence 6010 A.D.' although the 'Lady...' idea could well be used at a later time. I think that I'll keep with it's original title though. The new line is just how I feel about the song, at the moment. That I'm actually getting somewhere with it at last.

More Jazz, kinda!

Sound used: 'NY Jazz', a sound from my 'Radical Piano' Rack Extension on Reason.
Played on my Goldstar GMK-49 midi keyboard.
Based vaguely, loosely on Mr. Harry-Boy's version of an old Jazz standard, 'Autumn in New York.' I say vaguely and all that, let me go an' listen to it again!
... It's got that, I don't know, that Jazz, New York kind of sound, feel to it.  My sound is almost like his, if only my playing was too!

The 'Clicks' on the track? The Piano sound/Sample was recorded with a mike, or mikes, close to the strings and hammers of the Piano. Not to everyones taste I know, but it offers that vintage style type of sound to it.

Hmm, different. A little! I actually went an octave further up at times, on this one!
Hmm. Well I like it anyway! (But I must improve I know).

Both of these tracks were played live, Goldstar keyboard sat on me lap. Me sat on the side of me bed, too! (As with most of these live tracks, really). Some parts are pre-written, rehearsed if you like. Some are just good ol' fashioned improv'. Just hit the record button and see what happens! :-)

While my piano gently plays.

I had a previous version that was better, played just five minutes or so before this one. Thought I had recorded it, turned out that I hadn't! You should've seen the look on my face when I turned round to look at the computer screen only to see that the note lane was empty. I was not best pleased!
I gathered my thoughts and then came up with this.

Happy Birthday Rog (my D-50!). 30 this year and still got him.

Not doing my music studies so much these days, am trying to finish my first novel, how cool..?! Was at first meant to be a short ten page story, then it somehow became a 28,400-500 novella. Left it for around four years and then re-started it again last year. Have got to 71, 260 words now, hope to reach 90 thou' and then stop. Got the sequel underway in my head, too. Aswell as another 'Space book'. Also, a 'Ghost' story too (based on personal experiences, ooh!). Maybe writing a book is easier to do than learn Mr. Mozart, Ja? (Gotta love ya, Wolfie!).
Can't really write (as you can probably tell from this little piece, I know!). Have Dyslexia and/Or Dyspraxia.  Although haven't had any tests, but somethings going on inside my head. Maybe HDHD too? God knows.
Will keep my finger in, as regards the music but badly need lessons and shouldn't just rely on 'Natural talent'. Just probably get some lessons in 'How to write proper' too. (Joke!).
Title: 'Moon over Earth'. Genre: Sci-fi. Would have to be, wiv a title like that, hey?

Hi, thanks for looking in. What you have here are mainly live Piano pieces, Classical, I guess (with a Jazz style numbers in there, too). 'A soundtrack vision' and 'Variations on a theme' were both recorded using my Yamaha sy85 synthesiser as my control keyboard. The rest were recorded using my Goldstar GMK-49 midi keyboard. 
Update2:
Have been writing, rehearsing playing more with different Piano sounds of late, but did start five or so song ideas (Only to lose them). Then I had two drum tracks (or was it three?) but then lost those, aswell! Have now got three basic drum tracks on the go, using live recorded drum kits and converted into rex files, loops, so I'll try and not lose those, hey? I've now lost them also. "Do what?!" Yes, exactly. Not to worry, I guess.
For now, am enjoying playing my Piano sounds, recording them and seeing what I come up with.
Influences:
Queen, Ultravox, Gary Numan, O.M.D. Jean-Michel Jarre, Harry-Boy (Connick Jnr) Mr. Bowie and a certain 'fabfour' too! Also, RS (Rick Springfield, and early boyhood hero of mine!). The soundtrack fellas, Lalo Schifrin and Ennio Morricone. Oh, and some Classical too. I first played a little J.S. Bach on my old Bontempi organ when I was a lot younger but my style is probably nearer to the 'Classical' era, Mr. Mozart etc. That reminds me, I must look up Haydn soon, too.

Now have Abelton live 9 and a new control keyboard, a Novation Impulse 61.

Equipment:
Roland D-50, Yamaha SY85, Goldstar GMK 49, Novation Impulse 61, Roland TR-626, Yamaha QX5 sequencer, Fostex 160 MultiTracker.
Software: Reason 8ish, Abelton Live 9 suite. Oh and a wee little, tiny of a keyboard (which is actually quite useful!) a Akai LPK 25. There, 'andsome!
With honourable mentions to Cecil, my Casio CZ-3000 keyboard and Basil, my Boss DR-220A Dr. Rhythm drum machine. (Should never have sold them, really).
P.S. Even had quite some difficulty in writing this down, this profile. God, my brain.
Update, yet again. 03:33. 13/01/2022. Still, still trying to finish my book but work keeps getting in the way (am on 'Nights', knackered!). Now have Reason 12, it's good, but I only 'Dabble'.

P.S. Just discovered Deep purple. I know, at least thirty years too late! Lovely!
