The second of two compilations collecting the work of Afternoons In Stereo, brought together to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the debut Afternoons In Stereo album, RETROSPECTIVE puts the focus on the dancefloor and the EDM side of the artist's output. Featuring tracks that span the entire catalogue the collection takes in electro-funk, disco, house, nu-latin breaks, drum & bass, and ambient downtempo. While aspects of the jazz- influence on the producer are never far away, we hear a harder edge to the productions collected here -- work more inline with the nightclub than the lounge. RETROSPECTIVE presents an opportunity to hear work by the producer that, when collected side-by-side, reflects a very specific aspect of his musical intent.

Star Disco

A liquid psychedelic instrumental that unfolds slowly and deliberately. Bubbling analog synths drift across the stereo field as a dry, funky breakbeat locks in with a walking bassline. Uni-vibe guitar chords swell and recede like tides, setting the stage for a laid-back, blues-leaning jam at 76 BPM.

Midway, the track slips into stranger territory—resonant synth sweeps, Hammond organ through a spinning Leslie, and layered guitar harmonies pushing the groove forward without ever rushing it. The ending dissolves into tape-soaked echoes and wind-like textures, leaving the feeling of a late-night session captured straight to analog.
